Hi, my name is Adrian and this is my first post on this site.
I am posting to tell people that it is possible to solve the problem without surgery.
I am 16 years old and I realised I had phimosis about 2 years ago at the age of 14. I was too embarrassed to tell anyone about it so I started doing excersises each night for about 15 minutes. i started these excersises only about a year ago when i couldnt even retract my foreskin when flacid. I started off in the shower, pulling back my foreskin as far back as it would go and then letting it return to its forward position. After about 3 weeks, i could pull it back over the head without too much pain.
After a few months, I decided to try and retract my foreskin whilst erect. The easiest way to start off doing this i found out, was to retract my foreskin whilst flacid and then try to get an erection whilst the skin was still pulled back. By doing this, i didnt have to pull my foreskin back when it was fully erect, because it would still be retracted. I could feel it was tight and when it started to hurt i pushed it back into its forward position. After about 3 months of doing this each night, I noticed a change about how much easier it was too go down. Although it still wasnt retracting all the way over the head when erect, I knew i had seen alot of progress.
Now after strethcing my foreskin every night for about 15 or even sumthimes half an hour whilst erect, I have noticed that I can pull my foreskin back quite easily all the way over the head when fully erect. When erect, my foreskin is still a bit hard to get right over the glans once it reaches the bottom of the head and I have to give it a bit of an extra tug to get it all the way over and I was wondering how easily it should slide all the way down over the head? is it all in one motion or is there suppossed to be a bit of friction there? I am quite sure it shouldnt require a tug and im wondering that if I keep stretching, will it easily slide right over?
If anyone else has been through this much progress and has fully retracted their foreskin over the head easily, can you please tell me how much longer it should be before the problem is nearly completely fixed? thanks
Hey Adrian, did you figure this all out on your own? That's great.
Yes, I think you should continue stretching until you can retract while your penis is erect. This will prevent hangups when you become sexually active. If you faithfully stretch the opening each day for a few minutes, it should be accomplished in about a month, maybe two.
Thanks for your contribution. Yes, of course we know that it is almostalways possible to solve this problem without surgery, but a lot of people don't for a number of reasons realise this, and the emotional connotations of this are so extreme that even apparently intelligent people are quite remarkably reduced to gibbering idiots when they try and reason it out.
This becomes all the worse when failing to find sensible support from doctors, they are enticed into circumcision and the subsequent realisation (reading "subversive" material such as this) that there was a real alternative so closely within their grasp is so shocking that they slip into a denial of their loss from which they never recover - as is evident on the many other topic boards on this general subject.
That is why we run (Jim runs) this page - to provide a clear guidance, free of the neurotic outpourings of such people which only serves to spread confusion and panic. "The sky is falling!"
So to yourself ... I hope you will answer Jim's question plus - when did you come across this page in particular? - and to extend this, what other pages (the general description or name, rather than a full web address, will suffice) might you have seen and what did you think of them, and how in fact, did you end up here?
Now, I must presume you have read a bit here, but I would have to say that had you read fairly deeply, you should have found yourself an answer, because we do address this sort of thing quite frequently overall, and it's a little "wearing" to have to repeat it every time. So you must go back and have a really good read.
Nevertheless, we wouldn't be here if we were not going to help you. I suspect you have confined ourself to pulling your foreskin back over your erection. Obvious as this approach may be, and it is certainly effective to a degree and is how normal foreskin development and mobility occurs over a number of years in childhood; when this has failed, then you need extra help.
This help comes in the form of using your fingers placed inside your foreskin, which is to say with it not retracted and generally without an erection - two fingers, nails together, inside the forward foreskin, feeling the tight "band" and pulling apart from each other with moderate force so as to stretch (over a period of time) that tight band of the foreskin not just enough to slip back over the glans (head), but enough beyond this to slip easily over.
(Unfortunately, we have so far been unable to find a picture on the Web to illustrate this. If anyone can point out such a picture, we would be most grateful!)
How firmly? Enough to be uncomfortable, but not painful.
How long? As long as you can keep up the pull and as long (and as often) as you can find time to do it.
How long will this take then? Doing it this way rather than just pulling it back over the glans, will be I feel, substantially faster than what you have been doing and by other accounts we see here and elsewhere, is most likely to "complete" the job in three or four weeks plus - and note this - an extra four or six weeks at the very least on the same "program" with just a little less effort to "set" the stretching so that it does not do as the skin is designed, to "take up the slack" wherever possible and return to what growth has defined as the "original" dimension.
In other words, having induced the skin to stretch into a new shape/ size, you have to give it time to grow into that shape. But surely these concepts of persistence in exercise and working beyond the long-term expectation, are a pretty familiar concept.
The point it that you will have achieved your goal at that point, so you should have all the motivation you need to "consolidate" your gain over a couple of months. People ask whether - or claim that you will have to keep going on the stretching "forever" to prevent it tightening again, but this is a foolish argument; you obviously perform the stretching because you wanted to use your foreskin in a certain way, once you can so use it, the point is surely that you proceed to use it and this will indeed maintain its flexibility.
Even if it were necessary from time to time, to perform a little maintenance, why should this be more tedious than brushing your teeth? Do these nay-sayers as one must presume, refuse to brush their teeth?
I am hoping that this will provide you with a revelation which gives you a rather radical outlook on the situation, and that you will give us an even more enthusiastic reply in due course.
