I'm thinking of improvising with something to put into my foreskin and taping it in place, but something of a length that it protudes from my foreskin (im nervous of it getting stuck if the foreskin closes over the top). Would a grommet or something similar not have this problem? I'm basically going to try a variety of different sized pen lids, to see the most appropriate, and then use a plaster/band aid to tape it to my foreskin. Good idea or not?
I caution you to use something with a very smooth surface, and to examine the glans periodically for possible bruising from the pressure. I have previously suggested a cap from a common pen, pehaps of the marker size.
This idea is frequently used by circumcised men to stretch the penile skin into a fascimile of a foreskin. In fact, there are several commercially availble devices meant for just such usage. Thus far, to my knowledge, the only commercial device meant for streching a tight preputial opening is the Glansie which has been advertised on this website. We are not affiliated with that device.

Jim: I have taken the lid off of a marker and will proceed to use that by putting half inside my foreskin and the other half protuding, taped on with a band aid. It is round and smooth so should not cause a problem. How long am i meant to leave it in there in one go, all of the time except showering and in the toilet, or just for a few hours? Also, do you know how long it will take for me to have significant gains? You already know of my stretching success from my other thread - i can get the foreskin behind the glans when flaccid (although am working on widening the opening still before doing it because of fear of it getting stuck), and about 1/4 of the way down the head erect
If I were you, I'd want this sorted out as quickly as possible. By maximizing the time using the device, you conversely minimize the time it will take to solve the problem. I do however suggest not sleeping with it until you know how your penis is reacting to it.
How long? Perhaps within a couple of weeks or up to two months. You'll need to continue with exercises for a month or so after the optimum condition is met in order to allow skin cells to grow. Your stretching efforts are actually breaking down the skin by pulling the cells apart. New cells will fill in the voids.
Remember our first rule at all times. Do not create pain.
Let me mention that you shouldn't really need to worry so much about the skin "getting stuck" behind the glans ("paraphimosis"), principally because - you have already got it to come back twice and got it forward again (easily).
The conditions for the "dreaded" paraphimosis are either that a foreskin that has never retracted is forcibly pulled back, as perhaps by another person and the owner is too anxious or ignorant to pull it forward again, which is actually the uncommon situation; or where a foreskin that is tight but initially able to be retracted is pulled back and left in that position for a prolonged period of time allowing enough swelling to develop to make it particularly difficult to pull forward again.
The most common situation for this, is actually as a result of medical interference - pulling back the foreskin in order to insert a catheter whose presence itself makes the "fit" tighter, on a patient who is unconscious (or mentally impaired) and unable to remedy the situation automatically. Variants of this are inebriated men (which may also cover the other novel presentation to the Emergency Department - a ring or similar object lodged over the penis) and occasionally a child who has pulled it back and not had the sense to pull it forward promptly.
Your situation is not such - you can pull it forward, and therefore should practice pulling it back as part of the exercise. As Jim says, we do not want you to do anything painful, but you should not be too concerned about it pulling back when erect because, whenever it is possible to do this, then clearly by "losing" the erection, it will become much easier to pull forward again.
It sounds as if you have mastered the pen-cap; I echo Jim's suggestion - wear it as long as you find practical, but not whilst asleep until you are very sure of the situation. A tubular device - modified pen cap or short piece of plastic hose (whose edges can be rounded using a hot air gun) allows you to pee without removing it if you can get the taping right, which might make things more convenient at those times. The concept of a grommet is that taping would not be needed.
Now such a device is and should not be as tight as using fingers inside, because it will achieve its effect much more effectively but as I said, it must be a little bit tight, or "snug". When it fails to be that, you probably need to find something larger. You need however, always to be very careful that it does not irritate your glans.
Firstly, whatever you might use is not going to get stuck - as long as it is quite smooth all over - as you can always eject it by squeezing the foreskin behind it (or between the glans and the object).
We are always cautious about this suggestion. We know (because we know about the medical use of tissue expansion) that this is without a doubt the most effective way of achieving stretching, potentially achieving results within a couple of weeks, slower in the presence of skin disease (not your problem). The problem is that considerable common sense (as with the devices for foreskin "restoration" that Jim mentions) or medical supervision is necessary and as with all the methods mentioned, it could get a bad name if people do something unwise (to put it politely).
In short, we explain all we can, but you need to figure it out for yourself.
A good example of an "appliance", is a set of false teeth. The same base material (acrylic) would be appropriate; all edges need to be carefully rounded and polished smooth, and it is fitted for size. Were such a thing ever marketed commercially, it would be a set of progressive sizes.
A grommet - if you are familiar with the rubber ones used to prevent chafing of cables through holes in panels - is the correct concept, but the retention groove needs to be wider. With this retention groove, no other means is necessary to hold this in place (a miniature such device is commonly used to manage children with a certain ear problem).
(Felt-tip) pen caps are an option - readily available and about the right size. They are probably longer than necessary and may therefore be cumbersome, and I am concerned that they do have quite sharp edges - some work with a file, emery paper and preferably, buffing or "cutting" compound would seem to be in order if you modify them in any way but I suppose given that the "pointy" end is actually flat and blunt and perfectly smooth, you could try inserting that end through the tight part of the foreskin and holding it with tape over the "open" end.
I suspect however, that already would not be large enough to have much effect in your case.

How large should it be in relation to the glans? The same size or bigger? I have found a marker lid that one end will fit with no problem, the other is just too large, i could probably fit it in with lubricant. Should i use the smaller end for a week and then put the other end in, or just try and get larger end in first?
Whatever you put inside must be accommodated without pain by the orifice. That is the limit you must respect. When you naturally progress to a point that allows insertion of the larger end, that's the time. Then progressively increase the device accordingly.
There is a substance used commonly in the foreskin restoration movement that might be of interest to you also. It's called friendly plastic and is available in craft stores. I've personally never seen it, but I'm sure your local hobby shop would have it. You can mold a device into the shape and size you need as you go. The cost is minimal, and because you have no indicated pathology, you will be progressingly quite quickly.

Jim - with regards to the pen lid i have managed to fit the larger end in - just. However i can't pull my foreskin along it without it slipping out one side or the other, so instead i put in the thinner end for now. Is this right?
I've got the big end of the lid in, and i've started wearing it most of the time, from today i'm going to wear basically all the time except in the shower or now and then when i decide not to.
Is this enough for stretching, or should i also do stretching with my fingers? Also, will my foreskin opening always be bigger so i can see the glans once stretched, or will it still 'close up' at the tip?
Since you have progressed from the small end to the big end, it is working. However, in a very short time, you'll need something even bigger. Using the fingers is good, but you won't get the 24 hr effect. Try your local hobby store for friendly plastic that you can mold into the size and shape you need to progress.
There seems to be a variability in elasticity from one person to another - and elasticity in particular is generally lost with age at some point.
It's rather hard to predict, some men appear to have a "nipple" of closed foreskin, whilst some do show the glans. I really have no way of predicting how yours will end up, or vary over the years.

Why will i need something bigger than this? I do have something a bit bigger which does not yet fit, but will i need to go any bigger than this? How long do i stick with one thing until i know to move on?
In a very short time, you've already moved from the small end to the large end. The very same progression can be expected shortly from the large end. You'll want to stress the skin sufficiently to allow retraction fairly easily, so unless the large end of the cap is the right size, you need to move up. Now unless you have the super-duper giant size marker, it isn't big enough yet. I'm assuming that you are of normal size of course.
