ouch!

So having found this forum, and read through some posts on the hazards of frenuloplasty and circumcision, i feel i'm in the right place to ask the following:
For a bit of background, i had problems with a shortened/tight frenulum in early teen years but found (as i now see is recommended) that with a bit of stretching it wasn't really a problem. and as i'm now 30 and have had an active sex life i can see it worked.
But the other day i felt a sharp pain during intercourse, which turned out to be a tear in the frenulum, no blood, no major pain, but it stings and the cut doesn't seem to be healing.
My question is if you could advise as to how to proceed, as i feel if i go to my doctor he will send me to a urologist which will result in frenuloplasy and perhaps circumcision.
Any tips?

What was different about this time? You've gone for many years without a problem, so what did you do that differently this time? I suggest the presence of yeast. Try treating the area with a preparation designed for treating yeast infections in women. You'll find it in the pharmacy where tampons are sold.

Certainly what not to do

Interesting train of logic here!

You have it seems, a tiny cut on the frænulum and you want to go to the doctor? Why would you do that? Would you do that for a deep paper cut on your finger?

Nonetheless, you might be right about the possibility of the doctor escalating the situation, suggesting you have a large piece of your penis removed to "prevent" a further tiny cut. We do know it happens in a culture where circumcision is worshipped.

If what you have is a fissure associated with a degree of "glazing" of the skin - becoming smooth and shiny and subtly stiffer; less flexible than before, then you may indeed have developed a slight "Thrush" (yeast; Candidal) infection. Such could reflect an infection your partner has, possibly not even realising it; the only reason this might deserve the attention of a doctor might then be to exclude the possibility, remote at the age of 30 unless you happen to be markedly overweight, of diabetes by arranging the appropriate blood test.

Other than that, a tear will heal, generally within a week, with no further problems. Healing can be delayed significantly by the use of "antiseptics" such as "Savlon", Betadine or various others and you should probably not use soap on that area either (any more than you might shove soap in the end of your urethra - that is a lesson generally quickly learned).

If you desperately feel the need for a protectant against irritation from urine, I as ever recommend plain, unscented, Zinc and Castor Oil cream dabbed on the sensitive area (and thereafter covered by the foreskin to prevent mess).
