Phimosis but been told it isnt

February 2 2009 at 4:21 PM

I had phimosis, mainly mild which i could retract to the glans but stopped it fully because i sort of figured that paraphimosis would occur. Therefore my doctor sent me to a urologist and when i dropped my trousers he retracted it and placed it back normally saying theres nothing wrong. However when i got home, i tried it and it got stuck behind the glans and with great effort i restored it.

Can someone help please?

Seriously, what kind of help are you looking for? Do you wish for retraction to be easier?

Paraphimosis is way over-rated as a problem if you're of sound mind and body.

Hey sorry about not being really clear. The main thing is the retraction and i am fully aware of all posts regarding stretching exercises which ive been using. I am 20 years old and have been diagnosed with mild phimosis and have researched quite a lot of websites and decided that i should type here to see what other methods or advice people are willing to give me.

It started off in the doctors where he informed me of the problem i was having and immediately sent me to the urologist. I have never in the past been able to retract my foreskin and therefore thought a circumcision was the only way to go. Then when i went in, i dropped my trousers and the doctor effortlessly retracted in quick motion and revealed theres nothing wrong with me at all. So when i got home the whole not being able to do it kicked in and im just confused as to what the hell is going on.

Here's is what I'd do: http://pages.suddenlink.net/manual_methods/phimosis.html

Do it at least twice per day for five to ten minutes each time. Also practice retracting several times per day. I don't think this will take very long.

Where are you that the doctor didn't immediately try to cut you?

Where is he?

Take a peek at his email address!

This and the thread following suggest that in Great Britain, they really do have competent and ethical specialists - who know what they are talking about - at least for the most part.

It is relative!

Presumably, the difference between the urologist's rooms and your home is that at home this procedure has sexual overtones (which is to say, you develop a little erection) and at the doctor's, it just doesn't! That is really the only plausible difference I can imagine to explain your difficulty (but read the following posts referenced to understand how to deal with "paraphimosis").

I suspect you haven't taken the important first step of using this "forum", which is to read previous answers and locate the important information which is so often given. Please do this and do some of the stretching recommended rather than worry about "paraphimosis". That is, until you have actually stretched your foreskin to loosen it, perhaps you would actually be better off not to try and retract it.

On the other hand, perhaps you could give us a little background of roughly how old you are, what experiences you have had with this particular "problem" including whether it has actually proven to be any sort of "problem" at all, or how you might expect it to be?

You are particularly lucky to be in a country with competent urologists.
