I had a tight foreskin before, now worried about frenulum,

I had phismosis until 26y. (I'm now 27)
About a year ago I started to stretch opening of my foreskin.
In couple of days it was loose enough so I could wash under it. It took few months but eventually it loosened to point where wasn't anymore uncomfortable to retract. I never actually stretched my frenulum, just the opening.
Now it retracts with erection quite easily, but I think I have mild case of short frenulum. I'm able to "over retract" about 5-7mm past glans ridge along shaft, but foreskin isn't yet flat. I have somewhat long foreskin with about 10mm overhang.
After masturbation, underside of foreskin (area of ridged band) and sometimes uretha opening gets quite tender until next day.
I haven't noticed cuts or anything visible and it doesn't sting but is more like a "bruising" kind of pain with no visible damage.
Weird thing is that frenulum doesn't look wery tight... but I guess it still could be a bit short?
Condition has got significantly better in past months.
I have some hope that I get rid of this condition, but progress is SLOOOOW.
I dont know if I should try to gently stretch the frenulum itself or wait if it stretches in use.
Be guided by your goal. What you describe is perfectly normal, but if you wish further retraction, you'll need to work on it. If it's working well for you now, you might consider leaving well enough alone.
Do understand that a "totally flat" area below the glans is not a natural state, but more often the result of circumcision.
On the other hand, your frænulum should be totally comfortable when your foreskin is retracted. If you are irritating it, that suggests it is indeed a little short (or you have a funny technique).
Again I state - a tight foreskin and a short frænulum are closely associated, each may to some degree be responsible for the other. For that reason, I (now) always recommend that the frænulum stretch be started first - and continued - as part of the stretching program.
Yes, do get going on stretching your frænulum. Do be persistent, frequent and firm. As with the foreskin , it need (and should) not be painful, but a little uncomfortable.
