Success story, encouragement for others, sharing a method for stretching, and a question

It's working! (no login)
Hi everyone. I came to this board some months ago in search of help, and was encouraged not to use surgery and to try stretching first. Well, after over a year of stretching and creams and playing with the idea of surgery, I can finally retract while erect.
For those wondering how, this is what finally worked for me:
My solution was to fashion my own stretcher. This is going to sound ridiculous, but I started with the cap from a bottle of toothpaste. Then I wrapped strips of papertowel around it to thicken it. I would retract my foreskin, then let it slide up over the stretcher, then use some athletic tape to hold it in place throughout the day, by taping across the hole so it wouldn't just fall out.
Over time, I added layers of athletic tape to the stretcher to thicken it. I was finally able to retract last week. Woo-hoO! It IS doable without surgery, and as Paul says, it's just a matter of consistency and time spent stretching. No magic solution, and constant gentle stretching will work.
Unfortunately, some of my previous problems remain. Even though I can retract, I think the frenulum is still tight, because my foreskin is pulled forward almost as soon as I let go. This is still causing problems during sex, and leads to my question.
How does an uncircumsized guy deal with Condoms? What made me finally realize I had a problem with phimosis was that I can almost never achieve orgasm during sex. the foreskin basically acted as a second condom and really dulled sensation. Last night for the first time I was able to retract fully while erect, and put the condom on, and it felt fantasatic for the first 20 or 30 seconds, but the problem was my foreskin was eventually pulled forward and then just stayed there. I wonder if it's the type of condom I'm using? Or if I applied it wrong? I know my frenulum is a little tight (but never painful), but w/o a condom the gentlest pressure causes the foreskin to slide, so I don't think that's a huge part of the problem.
Google "condom foreskin" to read some of the comments men make about this issue. I think lengthening your frenulum will help to a degree, but the proportion of your glans to the shaft will determine how quickly the foreskin returns over the glans. If the glans is smaller in diameter, there will a natural tendency for it to return.
One solution working for many guys is using really long condoms which are tight enough to grip the shaft tightly enough not to be pulled off. You may be able to find some with the larger head room to allow movement of the foreskin.
If you wish to be experimental, use a bit of that "athletic tape" to hold the foreskin back while you are erect. Hmmm, I suppose you might have to be shaved "down there" for that idea to work. Well, I'll let you figure out the details but if you find this (sufficiently) more pleasurable, then it might tell you that you want to work out how (possibly a more convenient way) to get the foreskin to stay back a little more. On the other hand, it might just mean that you get a kick out of sticking tape on your scrotum.
You probably already realise that pulling your foreskin back tightly in itself produces a particular and generally pleasant sensation. Whether that is the answer to your apparent problems with intercourse, well, I do not believe it is quite so certain. Certainly, within a condom you quite promptly build up some "pre-come" inside so that it becomes highly lubricated and the foreskin is sufficiently mobile to find its own "preferred" position - which is why I always point out that it does not matter whether you retract the foreskin or not when putting the condom on.

Hahah, so, I posted that two weeks ago, then it took a while for the moderator to approve the post, then I was so busy I forgot to check back! Thank you both for the feedback.
So, I've had sex a few more times since then. I definitely need to pull my foreskin back, I think. It just feels SO much better. Like I'm having sex for the first time. I stay harder, and it's just good ****. Sorry for cursing, hahah. I finally see light at the end of the tunnel though so I'm excited.
I'm still not sure quite how to do deal with the foreskin though. I'll try putting on a condom with it forward, and see what happens. Although I've made a lot of progress, I think perhaps it's still a little tight to be able to slide like that inside a condom without being pulled back first. When I do masturbate with a condom on, if I stroke down the shaft the foreskin does pull back, but not all the way. So I wondered if some water based lube might help with that.
Also, would getting the frenulum snipped maybe be a quick fix to this? I imagine it's the frenulum that's pulling the foreskin back up over the head. Alternatively I can try that pulling the underside out thing, but I haven't had much success with that, and can't think of a way to stretch the frenulum passively like I did with tap for the original phimosis problem!
thanks again for your help guys. Seriously, the medical profession is so undereducated in this area. I called EVERY doctor in the area to try and find help and they were all completely clueless.
