Phimosis questions

Hey,

I'm 30 and have always had trouble retracting my foreskin.

It can retract to about halfway down the 'helmet' (glans) but no further.

It's not painful to retract it this far during sex/masturbation, but afterwards it tends to feel sore and has a few little splits in it.

Also, I always have trouble keeping it clean of smegma.

I'm going to the GP this week, but I've also seen conflicting stretching techniques.

Questions:

Can you give me the link to the stretching techniques you suggest please?

Will the steroid cream sting when applied to the penis?

Do you have any advice as to how I can clean under the foreskin to get rid of smegma?

Thank you.

(By the way, regarding techniques on here - I've seen several comments for 'techniques shown on the home page'. I can't find the home page! Am I being daft?!?!)

My further question is - how should I describe the problem to my GP to ensure he takes it seriously?

You need the doctor for only one thing

If you wish to use the steroid, he'll need to write you a prescription for Betamethasone 0.05 ointment. An alternative would be the cream version. The best way to tell him is to show him.

You already have the link.

The link is the index page. If you haven't found explanations and illustrations of the "exercises", then you simply have not read a sufficient number of discussions here.

It's not in the American parlance, a "chore". Just read them, one after another. You need to do this to start to understand all the little details that are involved.

Broadly, you have not adequately described your condition, because you have not mentioned the difference in retraction when erect or not.

The "splitting" suggests Candida - read up (here) on this.

"Trouble keeping it clean of smegma" suggests you may be using soap. Read up on why this is almost certainly the cause of your problems.

We do try not to have "conflicting stretching techniques" here - if you conflate our instructions with other sites, you most likely will be confused.

If you refer to steroid cream, you have not read my instructions, but somewhere else.

Lots of luck with the GP.

In short, our instructions here are a coherent set of manoeuvres and explanations for why these and not others, are necessary. We assert that if you follow our instructions, accurately and consistently, you will achieve results. happy.gif If you try and mix in someone else's at random, then well, all bets are off - lotsa luck! sad.gif

Thank you.

I refer to cream in error. After posting I read through several pages of threads here and feel more informed.

I'll try to explain more clearly.

Perhaps a photograph would help? If you think it would, let me know and I'll add one.

My foreskin retracts less than half way down the glans (helmet). To go further causes soreness and tiny splits. These splits do not occur at the edge of the foreskin, but about 1cm from the edge.

They aren't painful unless I get water on them (I.e. in the shower after sex).

They heal well enough.

If it was just this I'd not be worried. What worries me is how tough it is to clean smegma out from under the foreskin. So, my motivation is hygiene.

Smegma does come out from underneath the foreskin during sex or masturbation. Of course, a sensible partner would not be appalled by thus, but it certainly affects my self esteem.

I do wash with soap as this acts as a lubricant to retract the foreskin to allow for me to clean under it.

I am starting the foreskin stretching technique today. The ointment will (hopefully) facilitate quicker results.

The soap is almost certainly your problem.

Causing the smegma production, fissuring, soreness and resisting your stretching efforts.

Your description indicates grossly excessive abuse with soap (using it for "lubrication")!

Cease using the soap - note carefully, any soap; liquid, solid, "shower gel" - any soap at all and given time for the skin to recover from the damage you have caused, your smegma should disappear and you should not really need the ointment to facilitate stretching.

Second page

I haven't had time to move the posts with instructions for stretching, so you'll find them on the second page.

So you should read them

July 1 2012, 2:48 PM

after you have read everything on the first index page!

If you are going to discuss it with the GP, you need to understand the situation fully, which is why you must do a lot of reading here, first.
