We are a group of friends who have come together because we share the common bond of caring for someone who has Trisomy 21. We are here to share therapy tips, medical issues, laughs, accomplishments and yes, even frustrations. We embrace what Trisomy 21 has brought into our lives. We feel that it has taught us to appreciate the true meaning of life. We count our children as blessings! We will fiercely protect them and fight for their lives to be valued just as all other peoples' are. We share our pictures, our stories and our hearts here not only to provide friendship and support for each other, but also in the hopes that others will open their minds and their hearts to our unique children and, in turn, make a better world for everyone.

Saying a prayer for Will's Mom Naomi and little Christina's family.

Not long ago Naomi wrote a post about a little girl the family had met at hospital while Will was getting treatment for leukemia, this little girl's family needed help financially as well as prayerfully as their daughter Christina's conditioned worsened and the powers that be were thinking of discontinuing antibiotics for her. It turned out they had to discontinue most of the antibiotics because the pain was so intense they couldn't take her off her pain med feed long enough. Mercifully, yet so horribly sadly Christina returned to heaven yesterday. The grief the family must be enduring must be indescribable. Everyone join me in hugs and prayers for Naomi and Christina's family, such a vibrant girl with such a spirit has now joined the angels.

This was particularly poignant for Naomi because out of all the children she met during Will's treatment, to her knowledge Will's the only survivor. It's heartbreaking to know another has gone ahead but I'm relieved that she is suffering no more. They had to increase her pain meds daily and we're talking a lot. Noone should have to suffer like that.

Naomi, if you read this, I'm sorry. I hope you're not offended that I stepped in and discussed this precious angel ahead of you. I know you're mama heart is heavy and grieving because mine is too. I feel heavy yet lightened that she's now free from the bonds of this earth and the body that could no longer go on.

Hug your children extra. They are so strong yet so fragile and precious.

I read her care page earlier this morning. My heart just breaks for her family. My prayers go out to her family.

I have been really feeling pretty bad. It's hard to know that all the wonderful, unselfish, full of life kids I had met while at the hospital aren't living, they didn't have the chance to experience a whole lot. I rocked Will to sleep this evening and I watched my husband kiss our daughter goodnight about 20 twenty times till she giggled, and I thought to myself, I can't imagine what it must be like to know you can't do that anymore. I feel guilt that I still get to do that, not that it's my fault, it's hard to explain. thankyou SO much for thinking of me and posting about sweet Christina, I do look forward to seeing her again someday...

I will definitely keep Naomi and the whole family in my prayers. I am glad she's not suffering now, but it's just soooo sad. I can't even imagine being in her shoes. I will be hugging Mina a bit tighter from now on.

Well said. I'm embarassed that i haven't been online much lately. Someone posted a comment on my blog that described it best ... can't remember exactly, but something like, just get through it, there's time for melt downs later. I'm having a meltdown. And this is part of my meltdown. Worry. I know exactly how Naomi is feeling as we are starting that part of our journey where we watch our friends relapse and fight even harder for their lives. I am so sorry for your loss Naomi. I did check in on Christina periodically. She was a precious little girl. And thank you Kitty for remembering this very complicated and ongoing aspect of cancer. Those of us who have been through it will never forget our friends.
