In my opinion, combining this information with any of your personal details gives forum moderators too much power to invade your privacy.
Take a recent example. An ex sportsfish member used this forum to defend his reputation against defamatory statements made by Neil from sportsfish because he had been banned from sportsfish. Neil had demanded personal information from the member. The ex member accused Neil and Dingo of lying. Dingo and possibly Neil defended themselves on this forum against the accusations to the point where both parties agreed on most of the facts.
In my opinion this was a relatively minor issue that had been resolved. In response Dingo obtained personal information about the person and made implicit threats of physical violence against the person and against the person's friends, family, colleagues and/or co-habitants (basically any name he could get his hands on). Dingo made implicit threats of physical violence against women. He used this forum (http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/245083) to further harass one lady who had never had anything to do with him. He forced her to come on this forum and defend herself against a man (Dingo) she believed to be dangerous, who would not identify himself and who continued to post her name against her wishes. Dingo threatened to turn up at people's home address, to get people evicted and to take legal action against which the defendant could not afford to defend himself. Dingo has been posting people's contact details on this forum and others and has been sending them to strangers. Dingo admitted to being a neanderthal, said there was no law in this country that could stop him and appears unable to understand why people would feel threatened by his actions.
"
I dont threaten women
In the conversation I said how would the lovely lady on your answering machine feel about you putting her in danger...
"
Dingo has been trying to close this forum. He said it would not be possible to block him from this forum because he can keep getting access to more IP numbers.
Sportsfish is not the only place where this has happened. Fishnet have also demanded personal information from members and has published, on their forum, information about the internet service provider of a member.
Be wary of any forum that demands or even asks for any personal information beyond an email address. Be wary of any forum that doesn't allow you to use a free internet email addresses. Be wary of any forum where the moderators try to steer discussion, restrict it more than is openly stated on the forum, or try to restrict freedom of speech by any other manner. Be wary of any forum that applies a double standard to what is acceptable depending on the opinions of members.
This information is in the public interest. You may copy it and pass it on (please do so). You may think this doesn't apply to you because you don't argue with people on forums. But suppose you discover something that you feel needs to be made public. Suppose they know you want to go public and they also know where your children go to school. How far would they go to keep something more serious a secret? Do you really want to allow yourself to end up in that position? Sportsfish claims to have a family atmosphere. Perhaps they mean they will involve your family in any disagreement they have with you.

Believe what you like. Unfortunatly some people like our and many others like to slander people or just try to make themselves look important.
I ask any normal thinking person to read what is said about me or anybody else from these boards then think who is writing it and why, Make up your own minds, sort the chaff from the hay so to speak.
A message for you
I have had enough of your dragging me into any crap you can find. I am also tired of you allowing the crap to be hosted on a board that you run. You have been asked to stop the rubbish you have been asked to remove the rubbish which you have refused to do. You seem to pick a target then do your best to slander them. First it was fishnet then Geoff Wilson then Sportsfish, Myself and Neil. You try to hide behind annonomous names and attack those willing to make themselves known
Today I will be contacting a solicitor to seek advice on what my legal rights are against your slander and I will discuss the possibilty of legal action against you.
This message has also been sent to your email address.

Hopefully your solicitor will tell you not to threaten people with violence. In my opinion that is far worse for your reputation than any other petty crap that got dragged up here. He will probably also tell you that your attempts to close this forum and all the other crap you have carried on with has just given publicity to this site. No-one ever took FD seriously anyway. If it had just been him waffling on here no one would have cared.
We would be glad to discuss this issue with your solicitor. However we must ask you, Dingo, never to post here again. We will let it be known that anyone criticising you here is doing it behind your back on a forum where you cannot defend yourself and that that is a pretty low act.
I was speaking to a telstra employee who handles nuisance calls about this issue. She said that you should never use your real name on an online forum which begs the question why would Neil demand that someone posts their personal information online when any nutcase or worse still a moderator con find it?
No doubt suggesting that he sends a few of the boys round for a cup of tea and a quiet chat about what constitutes an 'acceptable opinion' on fishnet. Or maybe even a free one on one 're-education session'. Or maybe they just want his workplace email address so they can chat to his boss about how 'impolite' he is.
