After reading most of the replies to Snooks post a couple of replies said he was banned for life on another fishing web site.
I know we have rules and you have put bans on people for breaking the rules.
Have you ever banned anyone for life,if not what would it take for you to enforce such a harsh penalty.
I suppose the answer to this will help Snook and others know were they stand in regards to breaking the rules and the penalties dished out by Fishnet

A persons attitude is pretty hard to disguise.
Even with new name and email they still act and sound the same so it wont be long before someone susses them out.
Yeah I have nutted some and some have nutted me also no biggie it all recreation.
I have an ulterior motive for my post because Iboats.com blocked my regional ISP from their site and in doing so blocked me, so I use an anonymouse server to gain access. I am slowly coming to the realisation that another ISP is what I need I was interested to know if these forum sites also logged the specific computer id cause I know a sh*t load of info is transmitted with every page request, I thought a typical forum site may be able to block specific computers useing this, if they chose to? cheers

Your not planning on doing something to get yourself banned are you?
In answer to your question, yes we have, several times. It usually needs to be someone who is pretty consistent in what they do wrong & dont heed warnings, except in the case of linking to or displaying pornographic material, then there's no second chances.
People just need to read the rules & abide by them, that's all.

The forum software that I used to moderate had the ability to ban the I.P. adress so it didnt matter what you changed you couldn't get in. The only exception to this was when people with cable internet worked out that it was fairly easy to change your I.P. adress. The way around this was to contact the ISP (in that case it was OPTUS) and inform them that thier customer had been conducting himself in breach of thier rules. ISP's rules will let you watch donald duck cartoons on the net and thats about it if you read carefully.
I wouldn't know if the fishnet software allows this or not or perhaps the new improved (never to be seen) (sorry ...s****** s******) fishnet software will allow this.

when you set up a dial up connection i was under the impression that an ip addy was allocated and everytime you dial in the isp recognises it. Thats how they lock you out from the isp. hmmmmm

Let's see if I can do this in a non technical way.... It's the pain of having a technical IT background.
Most dialup connections use an IP allocation method called DHCP. It means that the ISP has a block of IP addresses that it shares around. They simply allocate an address to you when your computer makes a request to connect
Actually, quite a lot of broadband (cable / ADSL) providers also use this method. Unfortunatley IP address blocks cost money to register, so the easiest way for ISP's to minimise the number of them needed is to share them around.
