Building on the censorship theme, I'd like to get an idea of what you can and cannot say on the other forums. Here's a few to get started (not sure about all of these): On fishnet you can't even mention spotsfish or ausfish. On sportsfish and ausfish you can mention fishnet but you can't link. Sportsfish advertises on ausfish. You can't post a link to shame files, this site or freediver's site on any of those three forums (ausfish and sportsfish will let you mention them). Fishnet won't let you post a link to care2.com, but will let you post a link to peta.org You can't use the sportsfish soapbox for soapboxing (it is OK if there is no discussion). You can say anything you want if it is critical of the government or associated bodies responsible for governing/advising on fishing, even if they are elected by fishermen. What products are you not allowed to plug/criticise on different sites?

These guys really are getting out of control.

The "outrigger how to" thread was put up by Dingo a little while back. In this, dingo goes through basic outrigger setup as he did it on his boat doing a bit of an editorial. Anybody can see that he put work into doing this and it will help people as outrigger setup comes up regularly. This has been done on pakulas site as well as on the btl cd previously which is fine as well. An arguement was entered into in relation to ripping off work of which I'm sure Pete couldn't care less about as there are only so many ways to set up a pair of riggers!

The point of conflict came from the fact that it was inferred that dingo had put in hours and hours and months of work into doing this thing when people thought he had ripped info out of other tutorials. Whatever the case was is irrelevant now anyway as personally I don't agree with quite a bit of what hes done thought I'm sure they'll work for him. Good luck dingo, hope you catch a fish ole buddy.

I want to say straight off the bat that I think he had a lot of courage to do that. It will help others, so well done.

Now... Backlash started a "notice for all" thread talking about the behaviour that was going on. Its fair enough as well. Its been out of control. within that thread, Mako said the following to Jason Scerri-

"If you want to know how many fish have been caught by members then start a new topic ya dill, don't keep crapping on in other peoples posts"

Over the last few days the team at sportsfish really have been out of their depth in dealing with problems, criticising others and in general being complete and utter morons.I'de like to explore this issue in relation to the most latest thread

"how many fish out of YOUR boat."

This thread was put up by Fishcrazy two days ago and originated from the above quote from the "notice for all" thread. Rob gave them exactly what they asked for.

Dingo attempted to hijack the thread turning it into a charter vs private boat argument as has been done previously. The title anounced what it was "YOUR boats stats," so his argument had no merit. Apart from this he enquired into the number of days "josh" had been fishing to achieve those stats.

Apart from his tikka put up a post to justify the private vs charterboat perspective that was sincere and well meaning. Dingo didn't like any of this but let it go as it was clear he couldnt win.

I_smell_FISH added a bit more insight into what they had been doing giving a number of fish per day number. He actually looked to where they should be improving! Hows that for being critical of oneself! They report those figures but then go on to say "they suck."

The fact is knowing the three guys that form this team, they don't boast or care to boast. When you talk to them, all they go on about is what fish they have lost, how annoyed they get about it and what they need to change.

I_smell_FISH returned to add Brett Chains stats to the thread. The actual point of this was to add a differing perspective in relation to putting marlin virgins onto fish. This differing perspective prompted his inclusion as it was seen as a notch above anyones individual achievement. This was deleted by moderators.

At the same time, Jason Scerri had been threatened by dingo. In another thread a post by I_smell_FISH that spoke of this garbage was deleted by moderators. Neil sent a pm to I_smell_FISH in relation to this saying that no threat was intended and he had pretty much inagined the meaning. This is funny as it has been mentioned by various people before the post was even put up!

Back on the "YOUR boat" thread more posts were deleted.

Dingo appeared and announced that people were stroking their own egos and the whole thing was a bait. This was a load of crap as well. The fact was, the thing backfired on dingo, he didnt like it so it was removed. Whatever they don't like no matter what its about it is removed. This was a thread about success and improvement that was removed for no other reason but for that of individual character clashes. This has been whats been happening on sportsfish for a while now. It is why members are leaving and posts have dwindled.

It is not possible to have a constructive chat on the site in relation to gamefishing because of this fact. I'll talk a bit more about this...

The problem originates from one area-

this is the perceived competition between those who frequent the pakula marlin bar vs those who frequent sportsfish bluewater chat. To break it down more- its those who post on marlin bar, vs mako who has recruited dingo.

Mako and co dont like Peter Pakula. This is fine, they just don't like the guy, thats life. I don't like people as well, but it doesnt rule my "internet fishing chat life." They dislike him so much that they refuse to use his lures, not because they don't work, but because they don't like the man himself, who doesn't make lures anymore, but, they bear his name!

They don't like the fact that he put out BTL, and they don't like people who post on that site, or, are seen to be "pakula disciples." These "pakula disciples are people who follow his advice off the cd and use pakula lures. The thing is, people don't really have a huge amount of time they can put into gamefishing, the advice and the lures work... its that simple. Dingo regularly says how crap the BTL cd is as it is for beginners. He says he has never learnt anything from it. Dingo you are a beginner.

Mako and co hate pakula so much that they push boss lures for the simple reason that theyre cheap and are viewed in the market place as a marketing ripoff of pakula lures. They know it annoyes Pete so they do it.

Dingo hasn't been fishing for very long. He gives alot of advice which most of which would probably help so thats fine. The thing is, its not really backed up by much, and dingo, 25 fish doesn't really count as experience. he wants recognition that doesnt come off posting editorials on the internet. I'm sure you will do well, go out and catch some fish

(ps thats not a smartass remark so don't take it as such)

Moving along, their hatred spills over onto Brett Chain. Changa is outspoken and makes his views clear. He also runs the pft and is therefore seen as a "pakula disciple." This aids charity but it doesnt matter they hate him, it goes no further than that. Brett is banned from the sportsfish site.

This banning came from a thread based on the colour Lumo. The jist of this was that Dingo and co don't like pakula, lumo is seen as by in large a pakula colour. (dingo talks about this in his latest how to thread) Anyway, the lumo thread degenerated and brett was banned.

The whole thing came from the fact that what the moderators say is law to length that, fishing technique and method differences lead to bannings of people. If this doesn't take place, the belittling of people by mods is commonplace.

This can be seen in the "line class tag and release" thread where mako gets stuck into murf. This is ammusing as I know exactly which one of the two knows what the average gamefisho wants in a competitive situation in regards to the pointscore system.

This general attitude from sportsfish can be seen throughout time. It has destroyed the site of which very few respected members post anyway. I can think of only one mod who is respected. He doesn't post much anymore either.

Thats the story of it all. Thats what fuels the hatred and the arguments. Its that simple. The guys on sportsfish hate the guys who post on Marlin bar because they hate pakula.

I have not been to that poor site for months due to the dwindling lack of information that comes from it.
I mean seriously, if you want to learn about catching marlin, there really is only a few sites. Marlin Bar, SCMO & Fishing NZ.
The others are all sub sites run by subs themselves.
Spazfish bluewater will die a timely death, and not before Dingo and Mako lose all of their self esteem. The Ex.

To continue from the opening post this crap does run both ways. But there is a difference. Many of the guys on mb dont know all that much about gamefishing but listen up and catch fish.

Mako and Shadow (dingo is an understudy) have caught fish and have been around for quite a while doing it. I know at times makos advice is biased due to personal goals but who really cares. The death of sportsfish comes from the fact that these guys cant hide their hatred of pakula. If they were able to, things would move along fine.

because everyone knows of this, those who fish using the pakula system end up not liking mako and co. You see, they hate the guys who use one system because they hate the man. The people who use the system then want nothing to do with the sportsfish guys because they know the sportsfish guys hate them. LOL

I guess everyone could go on fishnet and talk about catching sharks off a pier. That could work as well.

Mako and Shadow have caught a few fish, but most of them on charter boats and that is why they dont post figures. Shadow has never caught anything worthwhile from his own boat, and being a full time victorian, probably doesnt even own a boat.
Dingo has caught zip which is even worse. The problem is not the system. The problem is jealousy. Mako, Shadow and Dingo get jealous of other catching lots of fish. Their jealousy eats away at them until they burst and then the slanging match is on.
Face it boys, its not the site(although sportsfish is definately moderated vary badly)its straight out jealousy.
Whilst you keep adjusting your lures, we will keep catching good fish.

1st would have to be SPAZFISH in general. Then we isolate the likes of Dingo, Mako, Hewes does seem like a REAL wanker as well actually. Lippo is GREAT value and the boys from josh are good value as well.

Backlash is doin well on my hated list lately. He had been off it but his latest little carry on not just on the spazfish side of things has shown what a real wanker he is.

Really, lets get real. You are going to hire a PI so you can have them hack into this site work out which ip is which then track these people down. A little lesson in computers. Dial up connections dont have a stable IP. You see, one person can post, disconnect log on and post again and it looks like two different people. BY the way, once you've hacked into the stie and had things worked out so you know who is who and where they live, youre going to post their identity all over the web??? OK, which identity? So as to address any questions, the Forum Member Gardy has been removed from this forum, and a permanent life ban placed on him. The following is to apply concerning the person Gardy.

1. The name Gardy is placed on the reserved "name list" so as it can never ever be used ever ever again by any one in this world.
2. The Mods and Admin are to be dilligent in ensuring that he does NOT rejoin this forum under another name.
3. the domain of Gardy's email address is now block listed, so that he cannot come in under another account from his ISP.
4. Should it be idenitified that Gardy is using another account, that account will be removed.
5. If Gardy is using a proxy account of another member to gain access to this forum, that account will be removed and the proxy member banned (this is part of the forum rules anyway).

So as to show you the degree of agony that both the Mods and admin have gone through with Gardy upon his re-instatement in March 2005, I even assigned "mentors" for him so as to help him toe the line in this forum.

Anyway, below are some of the salient points highlighting our efforts and agony towards Gardy. We can now move on.

As a final note, we have recently banned 4 members who have not read the rules, and shown little regard to these rules and other Forum Members. We now are in business in simply deleting members who do not conform to such simple rules, and especially when these simple rules are blatantly disregarded.

For the 99% of you who continue to enjoy this site and forum, our moderation and efforts hide this activity from you, and with regards to the 1% who dont conform, our recent actions is a reminder, that we actively cherish and appreciate the 99% of member's patronage to this site, and can do without the 1%.

As of late, both the �Gardy Mentors� and the Mods have noticed some rather erratic if not irrational behaviour from you. A favourite saying in our board is �Gardy is hitting the turps again !� I bring your attention to the following post, and the recent attacks against AlanH. You were even cautioned in an official capacity as a Mod by Steve Wade regarding the thread in question. Numerous IM�s were sent to you by various Mods and Anz, of which they have appeared not to have been read.

You in the past did give your word to me in proper forum etiquette, and yet failed to deliver.

The above begs the question "What guarantee can you give us in civil behaviour in the forum" given the fact you gave this guarantee in writing previously in an email, but did not adhere to the guarantee. So you can see our dilemma in take your concerns in your email below seriously. I do not believe we should be put in a position of taking a "leap of faith" with you, given that we have already "leaped twice" with you. !!

Though I appreciate you trying to do the right thing in requesting access, the ultimate decision concerning your return is a collective one.

All I can say is that as per previous responses to you when you emailed me, I will post this in our secure board for discussion, and if I can suggest, for you NOT to hold your breath. This is the MOST I can do, in highlighting to the Mods your email below, but again, personally, I have concerns in seeing you back. It is NOT JUST you, but from experience, other members who have been banned as well - we can no longer endure the agony of such moderation. The rules are simple, 99% of the members do NOT have a prob following them, so the issue here must be with you, and not us.

The above reflects my personal thoughts, and though they do NOT appear favourable towards you from me, all I can offer at present is a response to you from us, in the near future, reflecting your concerns below in your initial email to me.

Adam, be advised, as a formality, I have sent this email to the Mods and Global Mod for their reference and archiving, and also posted it in our secure forum board for discussion. The following is an extract from posts I recently made in our discussion board to the Moderators, concerning your recent emails to me and your past disruptive antics.

I know some of you (The Mods) have concerns about audits, but if there is no reason for me to audit, I dont do it. I most times do not need to do such audits. I do respect the privacy of members, but if a member is an [censored], then naturally audits are required. Remember how last time we gave Gardy a chance, I emphatically stated he would slip up, and he did, and it was discovered through an audit. I expect him to slip up again. By default, members are issued with a measure of trust in using the forum. That trust no longer exists with Gardy from me, and he must work towards re-earning it. This will take time, and the only way to determine or regain that trust is to audit and monitor his membership. The adage of "trust but verify" comes to mind with Gardy.

You may feel, that given the above, Im being harsh on Gardy. I do not believe so, but Im sure had you gone through the crap I did last time with him, then you too would feel like I do now. He basically has decimated my tolerance level. I just hope the mod/mentor's tolerance levels are up to scratch.

As far as probation goes for him, I will make it six months, but after that, a zero tolerance policy will apply to him as well. One [censored]up and he is out.

As far as having him as a buddy, I feel I need to take on board one thing at a time ie his re-instatement. I do not wish to overload myself phsycologically, all in one hit. I cannot at present percieve him as a buddy, but as a member with potential for challenges and difficulties.

My email to him tonight will be the fourth one I have made to date with conditions and warnings, and I expect this warning email to be the last, given that no chances exist for him anymore.

You only have yourself to blame. In our Mod Board, when you were re-instated in March 2005, I estimated to the Mods it would be 6 months before you would return to your old habits. I was wrong, as it only took 5 months.

Given that at present Im not in the best of moods due to my injury, the last thing I expect to do as an admin is to come home from work and sit down tonight, spend 3 hours drafting this letter and having to micromanage your demise in my forum, though at present I do view managing your demise at present as a rewarding perk.
