"The Queensland branch has directly violated item 9 of its policy draft by not informing members of a deadline for submissions to the Queensland state government on ammendments to the Great Barrrier Reef marine park legislation. This comes after Kevin Collins complained loudly about the prospect of these changes and claimed to have obtained assurances from the politician involved that nothing would happen without public consultaion. Kevin made some very favourable remarks about the politician responsible but then fell silent when it came to informing fishermen of the approaching deadline. As a result few Queensland fishermen made a submission. On the day before the deadline for submissions Kevin issued a press release informing the public that he had resigned as chairman to become the QLD senate candidate for the party. On the day of the deadline he issued yet another press release. Neither of the press releases, nor Kevin's public comments, mentioned the critically important deadline. In correspondence <feedback.html> with me Kevin Collins claimed that to do so would be a 'waste of time and resources.' "
