With all the fuss about vietnamese catfish lately it is good to hear that there are some new seafood labelling laws on the way in. All seafood will have to be labelled with the country of origin. It's a good start, but we also need uniform labelling. My missus bought 'Dory' once and I suspect it was that bloody catfish from vietnam. If they can't agree on commerical names then they should be required to put up the scientific name with the country of origin. This may be the only way to sort it out once and for all. There are so many fish species that it will probably be the only way to avoid confusion. We would figure out what the scientific names mean pretty quickly. At the very least we would figure out what the various genus's are.

For some reason woolworths has the worst selection of fish from any supermarket. It's all imported and the only fish I recognise are the swordfish and atlantic salmon.
