| The fishing party is in many ways like the young earth creationists who insist that we teach 'creation science' in schools. They both use junk science to back up their claims and spend all their time talking up the reputation of the one or two discredited scientists who are prepared to put their name behind the claims. They completely ignore the mainstream scientific consensus and usually pretend it doesn't exist. when pressed, they will come up with elaborate conspiracy theories to explain it away. They both infiltrate existing online communities and use intimidation, censorship and every dirty trick in the book to get rid of anyone who disagrees with them. They then use the consensus within these small groups as evidence for the veracity of their claims. They both claim that the science will support them, yet focus on using political methods to force their views on others rather than relying on the science to prove itself right. They avoid any real scientific engagement like the plague. They both claim to be left wing when it suits them, yet use all their resources to get extreme right wing parties into power. They both have 'has been' or 'never was' right wing political candidates as prominent members. |

They both pretend to be responding to science, but are ideologists who try to bend science to their preconcieved goals. | |
