A friend of mine went out of her way to gather this information, the least I could do is get it out to as many dog owners as I can. Please pass this on to as many people as you know and cross post if you please.
Thank-you Evelyne for your undying support, we definitely appreciate it.
For the Dogs,
Please read on.
When you are finished, Please pass
this email on to others you know that reside in British Columbia.
Provincial Elections are Tuesday, May 17th and if you are an avid voter,
just skip to the end of this email but ...
IF you are like me and haven't voted in the last 5 years or more because
"One is just as bad as the Other, so why go out of your way to travel to the
nearest Poll Station (which is not only a hassle but not always near) and
place an 'X' on a ballot (for somebody you don't know, don't like or could
care less about) and then drive home again knowing your One vote probably
won't make a difference anyhow..."
then ...
Just this Once ...
'Stand' with me and make that extra effort to Vote on Tuesday!!!!!!
~ Did you know that less than 'half' of the eligible B.C. voters went to the
Polls last year?
~ Did you know that IF that 'half' DID vote, they could make a huge impact
at the Polls?
~ What IF that 'half' DID make an extra effort to Go and Vote AND they were
mostly Dog Lovers, Owners, Enthusiasts??
~ Do you think WE could make a difference For The Dogs ???
Every single Liberal voted in favour of the Ban in Ontario;
Three NDP's voted in Favour of the Ban in Ontario;
No Conservative or Green Party member voted for the Ban in Ontario.
I sent out over 104 emails to the Candidates of this years Provincial Election:
Of these
- less than 1% of those to the Liberals, replied;
- just over 4% of those to the NDP, replied;
- 33% of those to the Conservative party, replied;
- 55% of those to the Green Party, replied;
My letter was simply asking where they stood as Individuals with regards to
Animal Legislation - specifically dog control and if their Party had any
plans for the future of dog owners in B.C.
- Of the replies I received, All but 1 Liberal sent me a form letter stating it was up to the
individual Municipalities to govern such legislation and then referred me to
their website to find the Liberal in my area.
- Of the replies I received, All but 3 NDP's replied with a more personal tone but they seemed in the
dark with any type of dog control legislation and assumed it would remain
the same - no comment on where 'they' stood.
- The Conservatives gave fairly lengthy responses with some stating they
were aware that the problem lies with the owner but every Municipality would
make their own decisions on how best to handle individual cases. Some even
went as far as to ask for my suggestions and ideas regarding dog control. A
few of them also stated that they owned dogs themselves.
- The Green Party seemed more 'people friendly' with their replies. Most
have dogs of their own and understand the concern for public safety and the
difficulty in owning certain breeds and they too asked for me to submit to
them suggestions on probable ways to handle such legislation.
Now if you take into account the results from Ontario and the courtesy, or
lack thereof, that B.C. parties gave with response to my email - I believe
the best route For The Dogs is to Vote 'Green' or 'Conservative'.
And in my Opinion ... in 'that' order.
No matter who you wish to Vote for - Please Make That Extra Effort and GO
VOTE For The Dogs!!
Thank-you for your time.
