I thought this link was too good not to post...

I also don't want to sound like the doom and gloom merchant, but although I think Holly Hunter should be celebrated for her pregnancy at 47, I personally think we should also recognise that the chances of it being natural are pretty much zero. That said, it is a fantastic example of why we are lucky to have the option of donor eggs should we wish. I just wish these women could be more open about DE and not perpetuate unrealistic hope - however this is so personal it is totally understandable why they would not share this.

I think the fact she is having twins (especially if they are fraternal) speaks for itself. However, I personally am inspired by this and obviously hope for success with DE myself and am glad she has found a way to have the babies she obviously wants and deserves.

Just a thought. I will really go away now!!

Daisy,

I didn't have time to read the whole article, but read about half of it. It is very good, thanks for sending the link. I was particularly interested in their comments about weight gain... so is this a proven fact, that taking all these hormones puts on the pounds? I've certainly experienced a significant weight gain in the past year since starting IVF's , so I guess I shouldn't beat myself up over it, huh?

Couldn't agree with you more about Holly Hunter... perhaps some people still believe in the Easter Bunny, too, huh?

Okay, if you're really leaving, take good care of yourself and let us know how you're doing, sweetie.

love,
Maya

Daisy, I am glad you are still "with us"

There is just so much emotion that goes with ttc. I had a nurse tell me yesterday at my RE's office that the stress of ttc has been documented to be the same as going thru cancer treatments . . . The great thing about the list is that for the most part we "are all in the same boat."
I also agree about the great amount of misinformation that is out there. But no matter "how" someone achieves a pregnancy at "our age" I am amazed. It is such a committment, one for life!!!!
You take care and hang in there.

I just finished their book....

August 5 2005, 11:49 AM

and it was a pretty good read. They talk all about infertility and the options available and what sucks and what doesn't. However, they did spend a little too much time, in my opinion, talking about how a woman should have kids when they are younger, because the eggs are better. Yet both of them are older moms.

Anyway, I did find it very informative.
