TraceyD - Hopeing things are still OK.
SAS - Where are you at?
MichelleWA - did you do your FET?

I had my lap, hsg, hysteroscope on 12/21 but about a week later got VERY sick. Almost 'go to ER' level. Not sure what happened but it was bad. My guts were in turmoil. I'm fine now. Still feel it when I sit up from bed - like a stomach muscle thing.

Got AF on cd26 and am now on cd5. Given I thought I was going to die just about a week or so ago - I didn't want to deal with meds, monitoring, etc. Probably stupid as at my age, each month is like dog years, but my body said hold off.

I have no idea what my next step is. I have 4 IVFs under insurance and I'd sure like to try at least one. I may fly out to SIRM vegas in March as I am uncomfortable with local clinics being up to par. May end up at Cooper in NJ.
Basically, I've no hope and am STILL trying to get my head around DE. Might go childless. IDK. Seems so many are doing DE right now. They seem so happy. I can understand this. No more dissapointments & BS - just looking forward to the fun parts. Picking a name, etc. Ooop! I think I'm talking myself into it? Anyhoo - I'm not ready to give up on my own eggs yet as I figure I'm already old & what's another year or 2?

Hope everyone's well. I've not been here much the past month and am pretty lost as to where everyone's at.

Hey, Meagain, thanks for asking about me . . .

January 12 2006, 12:43 PM

I am on lupron. Full strength. A little bit of a different story than the microdose I was on for my cycle. I am depressed (sh*t-colored glasses as my psychologist says) -- ugh! And I feel like cr*p. Joints aching, skin dry, everything harder than usual. And I am also making multiple trips to the dentist to get my dental health under control before the transfer (I know its a good idea but it doesn't help this whole thing! Tomorrow is my last one (for a minor filling) and I should be done after that.

If I am supressed on Monday I get to start adding in E2. I certainly hope so. I am very much looking forward to feeling closer to my old self soon. Although, if I do succeed I know I'll feel yucky for a while, so maybe this is good practice. Somehow knowing you get a baby in the end makes it much more worth it than just getting a chance at a baby that I have now. But one can't happen without the other -- so there you go.

I think if you have 4 ivfs covered you should do at least one with your own eggs. Who knows -- it just might work.

Please let us know what you decide.

Good to hear from you Meagain!

It's always good to "see" people back on the boards...although I am sure most of us would rather graduate to the pg boards! I live in NJ and I was also covered for 4 IVF cycles. RE suggested since we had the insurance coverage...that we would at least try twice with my own eggs before moving on to DE. Sadly, those two IVF's resulted in BFN's...and now, here I am....moving on to DE. I am really excited about it. I am thinking so positively about this upcoming DE Cycle. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide....my just my .02.....give it a try with your own eggs!

I want to know, too! My insurance is so bad, I had to fight to get a doctor appt covered

January 12 2006, 3:54 PM

when my hand blew up due to a bad bee sting! Fought it for 5 months..but don't get me started about health insurance. One of the joys of being self-employed...not many options for health coverage!

Hugs,
Carol

I live in a mandated state and have BCBS PPO.
Even at 44, 95% of the doctors wouldn't even TRY with me.

If I did SIRM again (first one was a nightmare), I would go to Vegas because I'd be comfortable with Dr. Fisch and Sher is going out there many times a year to cycle people. It would be cheaper flights, cheaper rooms, cheaper food, less stress, less hustle/bustle - and I can easily head out to a canyon or something to chill out. Not to mention the shows, buffets, etc.

I hate the fact that IVF is not covered for most of you ladies out there

January 12 2006, 5:52 PM

I think that stinks...bad. I am lucky enough to live in a mandated state.....the company has to have 50+ employees. There are a lot of loopholes too...like it depends on what state your policy is written in. For instance my company's home office is in Ohio....and at work you have the choice of PPO or HMO...well, seems the HMO was written in NJ...but anyone that has PPO...that policy is written in Ohio....and the coverage was alot different. Basically, I have Aetna....they have been ok....had to battle a few times...but mostly, no problems at all. The NJ mandate is unlimited IUI's, 4 IVF's, all meds, all pretesting, only problem is that you age out of the mandate at 45 years old....I am 44.5...I've got to move along and get pg soon! I am lucky enough that they will even cover my DE, my donors meds and all their procedures during the IVF. I have to pay for all their pre-bloodwork and testing, and if anything, god-forbid that happens after the procedure...and of course the Donor's fee...of $7000.00! I really am sad that this is not covered for all you ladies. I feel bad. Best of luck to you!

Hi Meagain!!!!!!!..............m

It's good to hear from you. I'm sorry you've been sick and had to sit out a cycle. I agree with the above, I'd try a cycle or two of IVF with my own eggs before trying the DE. You really are lucky to have that option available.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

All is still well here! I can't beleive I'm half way there. I leave for my amnio appt in about a half hour. I'm praying for good news, also hoping that baby gets out of the way so dr can get the needle in. Last attempt baby and placenta were in the way. But, all looked good, no markers.

I'll let you know when I get the results.

Are you going to move to the other board? I like it better because you always know who's on, no lurkers (and I mean lurkers who aren't sympathetic with our cause)-or as my dh calls them "51 yo men with ovary fetishes" LOL!

Take care, and good luck!
