The passion starts with simple aesthetics. Panerai is a clean, beautiful, timeless design. It is also unique. I've been wearing Panerai for almost 7 years and I've only seen about a half dozen real ones on other people's wrists (excluding hanging out in watch shops

Once you get a Panerai, and start sniffing around, you will find the community. There is no more passionate community in teh watch world. It goes way beyond watches. I've met dozens of friends. Truly good people.

Then there are the straps. One Panerai can be made to look like a dozen -- just by putting on a new pair of shoes.

I now have 5 Pannies and probably 3 dozen straps. The possibilities are dizzying.

As for value, I've never lost a dime on these watches. If you buy smart, you can wear one for a few years and sell or trade it for equal or greater value. Can't say that about many other brands. And, I believe Richemont knows what they have. It is thier biggest money maker, and they are being cautious to not over-expose as they build the brand. IMHO, it is here to stay.

Good luck in your journey...I'm sure it will find you in Firenze
