Hello Everyone

Chuck was a close personal friend of mine for many years... .

Tomorrow, May 12, 2009, will mark the first anniversary of the passing of
Chuck Maddox. Chuck was one of the leading experts on the subject of
vintage chronographs, and he wrote detailed articles on a variety of
subjects ranging from Omega Speedmasters, to Heuer Carreras, to the watches
worn on the moon. Perhpas his greatest influence on the community of
collectors came through his thousands of messages on discussion forums and
countless e-mail messages to collectors; he was happy providing advice to
novices or debating the finer points of chronographs with the experts.

Chuck's website -- now located at www.chronomaddox.com -- was a cherished
resource for collectors, housing Chuck's articles, as well as an amazing
collection of photos, reference tables, scans of literature and instruction
manuals, blog postings, and other useful items.

I expect that many readers will want to mark Chuck's passing by posting a
tribute, telling a favorite story about Chuck, wearing a special
chronograph, reading one of his articles or browsing his website. Any of
these remembrances would have made Chuck happy.

Best regards

Bill Sohne

Don't know him personally, but exchanged some emails with him. Always a
down to earth, comprehensive and a helpful person - a real gentleman.
But Chuck is a great influence on my watch learning.

Chuck is a nice kind individual and will be missed. Heaven is now full
of Omega savvy souls smiling down at us WIS happy.gif

Remember him always.

But Chuck's web pages on the Space One were the best I ever found. He left no stone unturned, and wrote in a very friendly, conversational style. Hopefully someone will steward his work so others can continue to benefit from his incredible insight and knowledge.
