this sounds painfully familiar.......

I think what works for me is not the same thing each time this becomes an issue. Sometimes the binge stops because I start to miss how much better I feel when I don't engage in that kind of behavior. Sometimes things help like getting enough rest, doing things that feed my soul, etc.....Sometimes it helps when I just plan on having a trigger food like that on purpose under my own power rather than let that particular food control me....this can be risky, but sometimes it works. Sometimes it helps to create a lofat alternative which allows me to enjoy more of an item for less calories....there are some baked potato chips that are actually pretty yummy. Not all strategies work all of the time, but to have an arsenal of things to use in this frustrating battle really helps, and it also helps to have your food selections and amounts not be too depriving to begin with, which makes us less vulnerable to binge situations when they come up. It also helps your metabolism and makes you less vulnerable to binge situations if you eat every few hours....whether it is a snack or a meal.....when we're less physically hungry and when our 'core emotional stability' is secure, we're in charge instead of a potato chip. It's not easy, but progress comes in steps, one at a time....hang in there, Hollie....we're all in this together, Love, Maaj
