Hi! I'm new to this forum and I wanted to say hello to everybody!

I have a few questions that I'm hoping you guys could help me with.

Number 1: I'd like to know if there is a way to increase the power on the 1077. 625fps just isn't alot of umph.

Number 2: When you bulk your 1077, doesn't the cartridge under the stock get in your way when you're shooting? Also, in hunting situations or benchrest shooting I can't imagine that this setup is ideal. Has anybody seen a setup where the tank is in the butt section of the stock? Similar to the Air Force Talon maybe?

Thanks for your time and your responses, any input will be greatly appreciated!

Hunting?

May 10 2003, 9:11 PM

The CR 1077 is by no means a hunter. Bench rest shooting? Are you sure your talking about the Crosman 1077 rifle?
The gun is a fun plinker people. Without the repeater action nobody would even care about it. The fact you can bulk it and deal with it's crappy trigger action is all we can hope for. He said, hunting and bench rest shooting....LOL

Thanks for the helpful info

I'm well aware that the 1077 isn't a hunter or benchrest rifle. Which is why I'd like to modify it. I have no prior experience with airguns, which is why I am seeking help from the people in this forum. I like tinkering around with my guns and see how far I can go with them. But I'm glad you got a good laugh out of it. :D

The tank under the forarm does not seem to bother people.

A resavoir in the butt is an interesting idea but will take a lot of time and money to do. You need to fabricate a tank the shape of the stock or install a tank like the Talon and provide a line to the front. You need to be careful with the 900# pressure of CO2.

Yeah, I think what I would like to do is replace the buttstock with the tank which would be held by some sort of a frame that I would have to make up and attach to the grip section of the stock. At the same time I wannaCome up with a wooden pistol grip to fit over the existing one. Running the gas from the butt to the forestock is what's causing me a little headache. Right now I don't have a better idea than running it on the outside of the stock, where it would be subject to damage. Now add a barrel brake and a bipod to this and you'd have a pretty slick tactical style plinker. Don't ya think?

What bothers me about this is the tank in the stock is

May 12 2003, 8:34 PM

right next to a persons face. I would not want a tank I built in that position with 900 # of pressure in it. A factory tank yes but not one I fabricated.

Tank

May 13 2003, 11:08 AM

The tank would have to be a standard tank. I wouldn't try to build my own tank. Seems a little too adventurous for me...

Wait just a minute there

May 13 2003, 11:44 AM

The 1077 is a hunter. I got 5 doves, 1 sparrow, 2 verry small birds, and a can jusdt yesterday. And that was at 72'! ofcourse with a 3-9x32 scope but still I kill plent of pests with it. Accurate as hell when using RWS Supermatch or Beeman Silver Jet.

Hi Matthew!

I must say I'm a little disturbed by your report of shooting "5 doves 1 sparrow and 2 very small birds". I hope there is a reason other than just that you can for shooting these birds. When I shoot squirrels over here it is because there is a huge over population of them and they are very distructive. Not only to trees but also to houses. But then again, everybody has to know for himself what he can live with.

Im glad you asked!

May 15 2003, 5:37 PM

I shot these birds for snake food. I raise snakes. From every different sizes. I have 3 babby bull snakes, 2 Full grown bull snakes, 1 Boa, and one african grass snake raised on sparrows! So there are a lot of reasons I shot those birds! Theya re everywhere so its not like im hunting something rare. The sparrows are a pest because the get in the roof sidings of my hgouse and make nests in them and screw up all the insolation! I was just trying to get my point of view as the 1077 being a fun hunter!

1077 Uses

May 15 2003, 5:49 PM

I find the 1077 exceptable for pest control, we have fruit trees that the rats love to pillage, and so I got my 1077 for that purpose.

When I got it the thing shoot only flyers (even with supermatch), on a hunch I loosened all the screws, the slowly tightened them back up, then it would shoot straight.

I attached a 4x32 scope, it would shoot 1 ragged hole at 25 feet until about the 20th shot with a powerlet and supermatch (with an ocassional flyer - stiff trigger )

note: you have to wait a minute between shots, or you get inconsistant shots.

5 years later and a few thousand pellets through the barrel it can still shoot consistant, I have done many a head shot on rats at around 25 - 30 feet with crossman 10.5gr, and also taken many with my now favorite pellet, the 8.8gr beman crow magnum hp, still very accurate, and still a quick take down with a side shot.

I shoot only rats, and we have so many birds and squrrels around here (my wife loves them) so pest control is the pellet gun, poison is not an option.

I'd shoot the pegions, they are a pest, but my wife says no. even the crow is safe.

Anyway, it's not something I'd use for much bigger than a rat, and for that it works well.

George

Thanks for the responses!

Matthew, I hope I didn't sound judgemental. There are some kids in my neighborhood, that go around shooting their pellet gun at anything that moves, just for the joy of killing. That just makes me mad. I hate to see people that have no respect for life. Where is their Dad?? Oh well...

No you didnt sound judgemental. I have a couple of friends that like to shoot things for the heck of it. I will admit I have taken part of some of these activities. I feel ashamed. But I do however skin the rabbits and eat them. Unless its summer time than I skin the rabbits and use the meat for Cyote bate. Need to lour away coyotes away from the nieghbor hood.
