I am not sure if thios is illegal or not by try replacing the Valve with a US made valve. That will defenitly do the trick.

If you cant do that than see if you can't find a longer barrel. It will need to be milled to fid the slide in the gun. Hope that helps!

Try

May 30 2003, 1:17 PM

the air source that Crosman came out with. It will raise your FPS. And no Matthew changing the valve is not illegal. You can buy a new valve from Crosman and have some one from the states ship it to you. That would make your gun shoot 650 FPS but it might be a bitch to put in the gun.

Re:try

i heard that the air sorce normaly breaks ur hammer spring after a little while but i think i will get a stronger hammerspring and softer triger spring anyhow and also it is sposed too be realy hard to find and too install i wish they came out with a longer air tank that could fit and be refillable... can i kill a rabit with 495fps??? or anything for that matter???

495fps might be ok to dispatch a mouse, or piss off a rat, but a rabbit you would most likly just hurt it, and that's not a good thing to do.

Becides at any distance at that speed the sound of the pop will arrive before the pellet, mice and rats will jump increasing the probability of a miss...

I'd suggest sticking to plinking and targets.

(as i wip out my airgun calculator...)7.90g = 121.91350824grains now 121.913... grains blah blah blah.....with the 495fps...=66.3465596 ppsi now that is like me hiting you with a slege hamer going 50km a sec so that i think is deffiently enoff to kill a rabit!... any one else got a better way of telling... any one kill a rabit with a canadien version of the 1077?

you must be joking

June 3 2003, 10:47 AM

BTW 7.9g in pellet weight is 7.9 grains

canadian detunes from crosman usually run low 400's

muzzle energy works out to 2.8fpe with 4fpe being an accepted minimum at target for dispatching something the size of a squirrel.

rabbits are out of the question.

sparrows and starlings perhaps....

121 grains...

June 3 2003, 1:11 PM

A 308 has about 150 grains. Now THAT would be like hitting somebody with a sledge hammer. Good luck trying to get it to move with that little bit of CO2 though...
Seriously though. If you really wanna hunt rabbits and wanna use an airgung for that, please invest some of your money into a decent rifle. There's plenty of precharged air rifles out there, that can make a .22 pellet travel at 1000fps. Sure, they are pricey and I certainly don't know anything about the legality of them in Canada. But!! Please consider being able to make ethical shots!!! You're goal should always be: One shot, one kill. Even though that rabbit might end up on your dinner plate, it still deserves to be taken in an ethical manner. Meaning, don't try to shoot it when you can't be 100% sure that you're gonna be able to do that one shot kill. There's nothing worse than hurting an animal, just to have it run off and then later die a miserable death because of it's injuries.

Just my 2 cents worth...

My friend killed a rabbit with a Rd Ryder! It was unbelivable. Split second reactions to the back of the neck. Paralyzed it!

a red ryder? that thing is cheap ... i cant spend too much but a redryder is like crap ... one sec let me re-calculate

7.9g... with the 495...comes out to 4.299...

dam wat about 625?

well 7.9g...with 625...comes out to 6.853...

that is like some one throwing a pencil at you realy fast... i think hunting with this gun ur gona need pointed pellets that will go throu the animal and hopefully rip out it's organs... oww that must hurt!

If you want the whopping hammer-like power for an airgun, do these searches:

RWS Career 707 (or 909), Precharged Pneumatic Airrifle (this one is up to cal .45!!)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Career+707&btnG=Google+Search

http://www.shinsungrifle.com is the original name of this Korean airgun, but RWS sells it under the name of areer..

Quackenbush Airrifles (these baby's go up to cal .50!!)

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Quackenbush+big+bore+airgun

Barnes Pneumatics, Custom built air guns

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Barnes+Pneumatic&btnG=Google+Search

Have fun

just 2 weeks ago I killed a jackrabbit with a Daisy 105 Buck which is just like the red ryder, and I have killed large blackbirds before with a slide action Marksman Laserhawk that I got for $30 Canadian-probably the cheapest rifle ever.

I think it shoots BBs 300 fps. Not a bad close-range non-co2 bird hunting rifle, because the slide-action lets you get quick follow up shots.
