I own an sks clamp on bipod I got off of ebay for ABOUT 10 + SHIPPING. But if I where you I would look at a universal folding bipod. It mouns ont the barrel just like you would attach a scope to the scope rings. The sks clamp on scratches the hell out of the barrel. Here let me find you one on ebay real quick
FYI:
Mounting a bipod to a barrel is a no-no accuracy wise, normally. This is why most harris bipods you see are not the clamp on service models, and why you do not see too many clamp on bipods stuck on high quality bolt guns like the remington PSS or Accuracy International guns. For the 1077 i doubt it would make much difference, but hey, if you can WECSOG (wile e coyote school of gunsmithin') a QD mount from on eof the screws on the stock, you also leave more barrel lenght to bolt other cool stuff onto, and look more "sniper like" if that's your goal. One item we continue to sell locally for 8 dollars is a ram-line folding zytle bipod, clamps to any barrel. You can find these ANYWHERE. Matt's SKS bipod is a good deal, id go with that unless you are REAAAAALLLLY wanting to push the envelope on the 1077. But, hey, like they say, you can;t made gold from lead...
i didnt want to post so many replies but i keep forgetting stuffs.... according to the diagram in the "help me pls !" topic there is a 1077-042 screw on the stock.... will you think a bipod can be mounted on that screw....and it will hold it strong enough?? i mean if i get a longer screw then fit a small piece of metal with a hole in it onto the screw, i might get a bipod that fits onto RIS systems on it..... would that work??
If this rifle is going to be used mainly to puch holes in paper, most any set up should hold...it's when you start mucking about in the outdoors that things get tested. Even if the screw can't be used, it would be easy enough to make your own mount using the existing hole. Happy shooting!
I would NOT try to replicate a rail system using your own sheet metal for this purpose. Too complicated, as you would end up mounting a variety of seperate points, which makes it structurally weak. What you should shoot for is a QD style mount much like you would use to mount a harris bipod. Save the RIS rails for the M16's where they belong; I know of no one who owns a winchester 70 or remington 700 who uses a rail mounting system for their bipod, qd is far more simple, as it usually works off of a stock screw or sling swivel. Of course, if you could get an RIS style handguard mounted over the 1077 barrel that might be neat, as you could save a lot of money by leaving out any heat shielding (this makes up a large percentage of modern AR handguards). Just a thought.
Nope, not a redneck, just a budding wile e coyote schoolk of gunsmithin' advocate! Now, if you took the rack off the deer you just shot and mounted that using duct tape, you just might....be a redneck
