I will soon have available Lookalike magazines for the crosman 1077. These are being made from the crappier magazines that my friends and I get when we do mass Magazine orders online, theres always one or two in every box that are blemished to the point of being unserviceable. The magazines are cleaned up pretty good, then cut and attached to the crosman magazine assembly. The final delay in getting these to mass stage is finding a CONSISTENT way to get the magazines to lock up right without doiung so much cutting as to rendert the magazines too flimsy for my tastes. This is especially true of the aluminum alloy G3 magazines. They will initially be offered in FAL, .308 Bren Gun, G3, CETME, M14, AR-10, Saiga 12, and Brolin/Valtro arms models. The M14 and AR-10 models will cost more than the others, as will the .308 Bren gun mag conversions, as these are EXPENSIVE magazines, and even though I am making these from lower grade magazines, there are many people who would hapilly give good money to have an original factory AR-10 magazine or US GI M14 magazine. For my fellow shooters overseas in countries that do not like high capacity magazines (or those in california, NJ, or other communist states), the magazines will cost a little bit more, like a dollar or two, because I will have to pin and weld the floorplate shut, fully slice off the magazine lips, and weld shut the magazine latch hole to make sure that you cannot convert the magazine EVER into a REMOTELY functional real-steel magazine. Don't blame me, blame your lawmakers. What is the interest in these magazines? I may be able to work some AR-15 magazines in, but most of those get scooped up around here. SKS magazines are also a distant possibility. I personally refurbish any and all AK-47 magazines for my own personal use, so don't ask.
Take Care,
Travis

One caveat on these items:
They will make prone shooting pretty much impossible. I know I went out and bought some 5 round AK mags so I could finally sight my Romanian model in at a bench, and I love my SKS because of the smooth magazine profile. Some, like the Bren gun .308 magazine, are just HUGE. About the only one I could see being feasible for prone shooting would be the SKS magazine, but I have yet to try that one out, it would take more welding to keep the damn thing shut, as it is held in place by 2 catches, one on the reciever and one on the trigger assembly. Prices will be the same as a new crosman magazine assembly (free with unit, obviously), about 1/4-1/2 the price of the old magazine, plus a little bit for my time and welding materials. I would reccomend only buying one that you really enjoy as a display item, honestly, or just for showing off to your buddies. If there is sufficient interest and someone is willing to pay 20 dollars, plus the price of a new mag assembly, plus about 5 bucks for labor and materials, I can EASILY convert a Suomi 71 shot 9mm Drum magazine to fit on this. Those drums are CHEAP, and thus not very collectible at the moment, as very few guns use them in thsi country. As these are all pretty much custom jobs, there has to be sufficient interest for me to go ahead and do this. I've got an M-14 mag on my crosman with the wood stock on it, I cut the metal barrel shroud with a pipe cutter, turned down the plastic outer barrel a bit, and installed an M-14 style flash hider/bayo lug using set screws onto the end of the barrel. Looks a BIT like an M-14, it serves no real purpose and cost way more to make than what it was worth, but it looks cool. Will try to post a pic soon.
Take Care,
Travis

Suomi Drums can be had anywhere from 25-40 dollars depending on their condition. Considering what a 50 round original Auto Ordnance/Colt/West Hurley Thompson gun Drum runs for (hundreds, EASILY thousands), this is a good platform to build on. Rhineland on the FalFiles has made a 9mm Suomi Drum conversion for the FN/FAL rifle, and someone made one for the AR-15 rifle a little while back. People are jumping on these drums now that something can actually USE them, but so many were made the price will probably stay low for awhile.

Of course, the suomi drums for this conversion will cost me about 15-20 dollars, due to the massive amount of restoration required to make them look okay. Possibly even lower if I buy just magazine bodies, with no spring, follower, or winding mechanism. The suomi drum needs a bit more work than a normal mag to work right for the cosmetic conversion. Really, any magazine COULD be used for this if the lips are of the proper dimensions and there is enough metal on the magazine to make cutting a viable option, btu some mags are wayyyyyyyy too expensive to use for this. AR-15 drums come to mind...

I agree with you about the expensive magazines. I saw a 75 round ak mag going for 250.00 when you could have gotten a new one fore about 90.00 or less even. I am interested in moding one of those drums you are talking about. If you could try them out on a 1077 and post some pics to see if it is what I like!

250 Dollars? Wow, that's a ripoff. The romanian 75 round drums are still pushing 80 dollars here in the austin area gunshows if you talk the guys down a bit.
Things would be MUCH simpler if crosman used a metal magazine. One of the problems if securing the metal to the plastic in such a way that it remains consistently attatched.

The Saiga 12 12 gauge shotgun Magazines work almost flawlessly now, but I'm a little worried about the epoxy used. I'm going to do some torture tests on them. these are mid-range priced magazines, though,a nd stick out pretty far (a 12 gauge AK-47 magazine would tend to). I have sacrificed one of the 5 8 round magazines I have found for the 12 gauge siaga shotgun for this, as it had a nasty hairline crack in the back near the rear locking tab. Production ones will be the 5 round mags, unless people REALLY feel like shelling out the dough. Remember, though, you can't GENERALLY make a silk purse out of a sows ear...but its sure fun as hell to try.

Don't pay 300 for one....for that I'd grab a nice Remington or something along those lines. I paid 230 out the door for mine, they're great guns, just make sure you put the top cover on securely. I had to pin one of my magazines to 3 rounds for bird hunting here, but the 5 round magazines are fine for other game. Grab a Kobra Red dot sight from Tantal to mount on the side rail for some real fun...
