What's the longest distance you have accuratly fired the 1077? I've done 100ft with a Tasco 4x15 scope, standing, with the rifle held against the corner of the house for stability. My yard wasn't big enough to shoot further than the 100ft.
Are you talking about accurate while retaining any sort of effectiveness on small game, or just plain paper accuracy? I'll try this out, with some new c02 canisters and a scope that is far too large to be used on this rifle normally. I'll see what happens. I'm not expecting too much; this WAS a 60 dollar air gun.
Both actualy. I cleanly "dispatch" rats with this gun, however i'm almost always within 30ft when hunting them (they run along the fence). I "kill" cans at 50ft all the time Anyway, just curious.
Hehe. Believe it or not, My friends step father put his sniper scope on it and popped a baloon about 250 feet away. The gun was pretty much pointed at a 25 degree angle.
OI!!!!
ive shot a rabbit in my backyard at under 10 yards in the head and the lil fuzzy bunny just jumped 1 metre and did a kickass 180 n my face, ran away too, so i did a follow up shot to its ass n it just hauled away from me.
i do have a canuck version tho...
it wuz weird, as soon as i got my rifle zeroed with my scope, out came a bunny!
I usually reserve mine for rats, and have a cheap daisy 4x32 mounted on one of mine for rat catching. We get some nice sized jackrabbits out here in Central Texas, and some of those damned nutreas as well. The .22 magnum takes care of anything up to a coyote or small wild dog, the .223 Mini-14 does everything else. Even took a deer with that .223 a few years ago....and before anyone asks, yes, it IS legal to hunt a deer with a .223 in this state, especially on private property.
Laugh my ass of cornbeef! That was just to funy how you described that!
I get jack rabbits and rats here. But you want to know something thats really fun to shoot? CROWS! Specially when your in the middle of no where and they are in the air. Its freaking hard.
OT..
Justin and I went out shooting. We saw a crow up in the air. He had a maverik model 88 and I had a chineese 7.62x32 sks. I flipped my spike out. He would shoot the flocks and I would try to catch them with my spike on the way down. I never got anything on my spike. but it sure was fun trying!
On an Airgun Forum that might not raise to many eyebrows. What gets people going is the one a year Deer hunter who doesn't even bother to check the zero of his rifle before season and would wound and animal even if he was using a .416 Rigby.
Properly used the .223 would be OK for deer but the proper bullet should be considered. I don't think a 50 grain SX type would be my 1st choice.
Just got back from Tennessee and was in a gun shop talking to the locals and one gentleman said a T/C contender with a bullberry .22 Magnum was the deer gun he ever used. The DNR has since outlawed using that round for deer hunting.
It has been known that the most deer has been taken by poachers using .22 LR. Of course all these were taken at closer ranges and very accurately placed bullets.
Of course I have a pretty good battery of rifles ranging from .17's to .458 calibers so I pretty much match rifle & cartridge to game, ranges, and cover I will be hunting in.
I think it's possible (I've never deer hunted before so I'm going by logic) to kill a deer with a high powered low calibre rifle. I'm sure if you nail it in eye on an angle leading up into the brain it is do able. Then again hitting such a specific target area consistantly would be razor sharp good skill.
