i just bought a new canadian 1077 from canadian tire. I am planning to uprage the c02 to a airsource kit but i was wondering how long those small 12 gram c02s can be kept in the gun. If i left them in there for a day would it blow any seals?

co2 in a gun

May 15 2004, 11:15 AM

its better for the gun is you leave the co2 init either full or half full or at least some inti to kkep the pressure on the seals also the oils in the co2 helps to keep the seals lubed and prevents breakdowns and cracking and leaking of seals as fot alloted time in the gun no limit but every 3 or 4th co2 cylinder put some pellgun oil on the tip of the co2 before periceing it this also helps with lubing the seals where you can nomaly cant get at them

CO2 stored in gun

June 10 2004, 8:43 PM

I sent an email to Crosman re: my 1008 (CO2 pistol). They replied that you
should only store your gun for 2 hours or less with CO2 cartridge installed.
However, before I knew this, I stored my (brand new) 1008 overnight,
with a fairly new CO2 cartridge installed, with no problems.
I would assume that this advice (basically, don't store your
gun with CO2 in it) would also apply to their 1077.

I just talked to factory for warranty repair.

June 11 2004, 12:09 PM

This spring when I installed the first C02 cartridge, it would leak all the C02 out when screwing it in. After several trys I got one to hold pressure. Now when I replaced that cartridge, none will hold pressure (they leak all C02 out).

Crossman says the seal is ruined because you can't leave a C02 cartridge in for more than 3 days without damaging the seal.

They said one exception that may save the seal, is if you fire 1-2 rounds every day.

What a piece of junk. I have probably only fired 150 rounds through it.

I talked to the repair guy where I am sending it. I asked if the repair prevents the problem from recurring? He said, "I don't think so".
