I am thinking of purchasing a Crosman 1077. I will be shooting birds, squirrels, and possibly rabbits. First question, is this gun powerful enough? Second question, what scope do you recomend that I will be able to add easily? Third question/request, Any other general comments on the gun pros and cons type of thing. Lastly If I get the gun and it appears to shoot straight and having bird killing power, Does the AS kit give the gun more power or more shots before a reload? When you mount the AS kit does it get in the way at all? Thanks for your time. I am about 75-80% sure I will be picking one up from Sheels sports by the weekend unless I hear bad things about the gun. Again thanks for your time and input in advance.

Hopefully a new/happy 1077 owner.

go for as

I recently, two weeks, bought the standard model for the same reasons as you. Yes it does have enough power but the little CO2 cartridges simply wimp out too soon. It would be cheaper to buy the AS unit rather than purcashing separately as I am forces to do. I do not use a scope but I rarely shoot more than 20 yards. Good Luck

Bought mine from PyramidAir.com model CR1077 also CR4x32 scope that came with mounts. And, CR413 extra mags(3). Total for all was $102.Shipping to MO, from OH was $10.69 of that total. Pyramid Air has lots of info on their web site about the 1077. Bough a box of 12gm from Wal-Mart.Comes out to a penny a shot.

pros and cons

May 25 2005, 4:51 AM

pros

12 shot semi-automatic, exceptionally powerfull 650 fps (usa version) it has bird stopping power and yes rabbit stoping power to. but like 3 shots for the rabbit.

accurate up to papaerplate targets at 50 tyrds.

very fun to shoot

cheap and easily upgrtadable

CONS!!!

bad trigger (the pull is way to long about half inch and the trigger is just so hard,

co2 only last about 3 clips. (fixed with)  an airsource upgrade you get constant 650 fps and more shots.

kinda small (opinion) (you cna do mods to extend the stock)

Thanks for the input. I have decided to purchase the 1077 AS model right away from pyramid Air. I got it for under $100. I also bought some extra AS units and some clips and got the total above $150 so the shipping is free. I decided to hold off on the scope for right now. I really do not understand all the different ratings with them so I do not know what would work best. I also need suggestions on what brand of pellets to purchase that work the best with this gun. Thanks again for all the input in helping make my decision.

You have jumped into a world where you will soon be thinking "Hmm what else can I do to this gun" or "damn those squirrels are fast" and my favorite "bob down". Seriouisly, you are about to have way more fun than should be legal. Post some pics when you get it I would like to see how sharp it looks. By the way so far for me round head hunter rounds seem to be doing real well. The tin I bought are GAMO's I have not tried any others but my initial 250 tin is nearly empty so tell us what brand you are using and the results eh.

I find using Copperhead's hyper velocity hunting pellets to work great for the small game ur hunting.. temple shots to a rabbit will take it down in 1 shot from about 18-20 yards (distance i was atleast).. mind you im in canada so i got screwed with stock power being prolly under 490fps.. but if u wanna annihilate stuff use the semi-auto on a raccoon and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the amount of body damage u can deal

scope

July 25 2005, 8:50 AM

Well I am ejoying the gun and now I am looking to get a scope or a laser beam site. Leaning towards the laser site as I use this gun more to have fun and thought it would be a neat add on. Any advice would be appreciated. Looking for complete information including mounting hardware. Is there such a thing as a bottom barrel mount so I can still use the sites on top of the barrell. Thanks in advance... any and all opinions are welcome.
