Birthday today! Had a brand new Air Source 1077 from a local sporting goods store called Academy. With much anticipation I took it to the garage and.....
Problem #1:
The airsource adapter mounted to the rifle OK - but the CO2 cart would not screw onto
the air source threads. I checked threads on the reciever and the airsource cart. I
started slow and did all the usual stuff. Finally man handled it onto the assembly and
opened the valve. No leaks so I loaded a clip....
Problem #2:
The rifle fired at best three to five good power shots from the first clip. Other shots were at best 200 - 300 fps based on watching the pellet leave the gun. Tried three more clips and same results. tried both crosman Premiers and crosman wadcutters.
Problem #3:
Tried a 12 gram CO2 to see if it was the air source assembly/cylinder. S\Behaved much the same way. it would have a few good higher power shots then drop off dramatically to a sorry little puff. Almost sounded like it was a jam - but it wasn't. You could just about toss a pellet as fast. We were not going for full rapid fire either. Even taking 5-10 second pauses between shots and you had the major inconsistency.
I finally gave up and decided that it might be a bad rifle. The airsource cylinder was a bear to get off the adapter. I got it all back in the box.
Question: I really would like to se the rifle perform as I beleive it can. I plan on returning the one I have tomorrow for another one. My question is did I just get a bad one or was there something I was doing wrong?
I have had hit amd miss success with the crosman 1008 serie pistols. get one that lasts for a few weeks and then something goes wrong with it. I have that feeling like 'Here I go again' if I take this rifle back tomorrow will I have to do it again in a few weeks etc...
Any ideas on what may have been happening?
Any thought son getting another and trying again?
I am stuck getting the air source one since that is the only one they carry at the store.
Thank you guys for the help - please let me know your thoughts.
I got a remanufactured 1077 from airgun express, the first one did the same as yours.I exchanged it and the second one works perfect.I would also exchange the airsource setup if you purchased it seperatley. It sounds like the threads are screwed up.When you get a good one, you'll love it,they are tons of fun(especially with the airsource).
Good luck
Thanks - last night I.... - do you leave the charge in the airsource?

returned the rifle and air source kit (this is one of those all in one box get ups) and the store didn't even ask any questions. I have a new one now complete - last night I just checked the threads and the air source cart started very easy and screwed in like it should - big difference from the last one. I did not have a chance to gas up the rifle and take some shots.
I think tonight I'll clean the barrel first then give it a shot ... err 12 shots!
Question: If you run with the airsource do you leave the airsource sharged and just turn off the valve at the adapter and then fire the gas out of the gun? Is that OK?
Thanks - I'll do the same... Do you have a favorite pellet?

I was thinking about storing the airsource kit seperate from the gun for saftey reason as well. I keep everything in the garage which is AC etc... but you never know.
I have high hope for the rifle - I am excited to try the new one.
Have you found a pellet that the rifle seems to like?
Crosman Premiers (light) and RWS Domes. I would suggest taking the airsorce kit off the gun... just turn off the valve and then shoot the gun (with out pellets) untill you have cleared the transfer tube and no co2 is expelled. Then just screw it off.
I really like my 1077 Airsorce, and hopefully your new one will preform as it should!
are the Crosman CopperHead wadcutters that I picked up in the milk-type carton of 1250. RWS Super-H Points shoot great; buy these shoot great in every gun I've tried thus far. I get good short range groups with Gamo .177 Round Balls; excellent penetration.
