good work to all that are working to increase power output , but the flaw with all this work is the fact that co2 requires heat to expand rapidly and therefore proppel the pellet down the barrel. If you release more co2, you req more heat to enable it to expand, what happens when you push things past a certain point is the gas closest to the source of heat(the outside edges of the barrel etc) draws so much heat that you effectivley get no more expansion(other than the preassure the gas is held at) because the heat is drawn so rapidly that by the time the temp starts to rise to an adequate level the pellets long gone.
comressed air on the other hand is affected only a tiny degree, so the more you preasurise it the more power you get. My pcp starts to drop velocity after the res pres drops past 1250psi.
In the past there was a company converting 1077's to air power in the uk, but they seem to have dissapeared now. I used one of their guns at a show and was v.impressed, they ran at 2700psi and produced 11.8 ftlb!
I know I have one of their leaflets somewhere and will post it when I find it.
I'm currently plotting a means of running my 1077 on air - not for power, but because I'm too tight to buy gas(more power would be nice though, I've increased the hammer weight an spring so far n' its still gutless!)
hope all this wasn't too boring - good day. . .

re airpower

an english company called brocock used to make a refillable air cartridge to replace 12gm co2 carts. never had any personal experience with them but i always thought it would be a great idea, just fill some carts up and off you go. when done just refill with a hand pump or whatever you use.

It's true brocock did make a refillable cart for co2, I'm trying to get hold of them direct at the mo, but their no has changed from the one I got with my tac revolver. fingers crossed! - I already own all the charging gear, I use a pcp and tac kit, yet to all others, If a system was available think of the paradise that would be consistant shots regardless of temperature or rapid fire. . .

??? OK.

Cooper-T products in the US; http://www.cooper-t.com/airguns.html

makes all sorts of fittings and adapters to use bulk Co2 and air. The problem? To get the conversion pieces, the hand pump, a small tank, and the fill/disconnect pieces- you're looking somewhere in the ballpark of $400.00 which is a boatload of cash on a $100 air rifle and you could buy nearly 800 C02 12g caplets for the same money if you buy in bulk- that means to justify the air system you either have to be pushing for maximum output no matter what the cost- or figure out how fast you will shoot 30,000 pellets (800 caplets times 40 to 45 pellets per) in order to reach an equilibrium point.
