Low power, air in the eye

I just got a 1077...when shooting I get blasted in the eyes with co2 escaping where the stock and receiver meet. Also the velocity of the pellets is nowhere near the 625fps advertised...more like 350-400fps. probally due to the gas hitting me in the face. Anybody have this problem? any fixes?

Thanks,
Skymeat

Crap...I just took the stock off, well thewre were two missing screws, two of the four that hold the receiver halves togather. I put a couple I found in the empty holes. no more leak.

Replacing those screws shouldn't (realistically) have stopped any leaks. The gas path is pretty simple- caplet piercing plug to tube to valve to pellet. Sounds like maybe the leak is somewhere around the tube- either where it is inserted into the piercing plug assembly or into the valve. If tightening the body lessened it- probably where the tube meets the valve- where it is really only retained by the positioning of the components. That being said, keep an eye out for leaking again- it sounds like maybe you got lucky and putting in some screws managed to firm-up the position of the valve/tube- but it may still not be 100% correct.
