I've seen a few ads recently that state "DO NOT USE POINTED PELLETS!" Does anyone know why not to use them?

pointed pellets

re pointed pellets:
Its nothing mysterious, its just that pointed pellets are too long for the magazine, they stick out at the front and jam up stopping the magazine rotating. I use RWS Hobby flat heads for target shooting.

It's really dependent on the specific pointed pellet being talked about- some pointed pellets will fit and allow the magazine to rotate- most will not because of their length.

It's just easier for ads to say "no pointed pellets" than try to get into more detail.

As for which pointed pellets will work- can't help you very much there. I use mainly wadcutters and Crosman 'hunting' pellets which are pointed- but not sharply and are nowhere near as long as something specialized like a Predator pellet or the like.

I'v used Gamo Magnum Pointed and Gamo Master Point Pellets with no problems so far. But then I've put less than a thousand rounds of the pointed pellets through. I've just switched from Crosman Wadcutters.
