From what I know you can only use Wadcutter type pellets on the 1077, personally I wouldnt shoot animals with it... well except crackheads and rats if they come across my sights.
Then again, from the forum ive read opinions of using other types of pellets with no problems whatsoever...

I like my 1077, but I wouldn't use it to hunt anything bigger than some birds or maybe small rodents. If you can keep squirrels inside 15 meters maybe, but make it a good head shot, and if the kill isn't quick, i'd get a rifle with a little more kick. Try the crosman pointed hunting pellets (the rifle doesn't produce enough velocity to use the hollow points). I also like the Beeman Lasers.
