Are there any air gun silencers for the 1077?

Are they illegal?

All the stuff I find on them is from the UK.

you must fill out an ATF form and pay $200 tax for each unit

... in order to legalize them. I think it's form #4, but before even dreaming of one, contact ATF for details ...

The 1077 isn't loud to begin with.

Do you mean a muzzle brake? You can get all sorts of muzzle breaks, as the poster above says. Go check his web site. You can also check out www.muzzlemack.com.

If you're dead set on a silencer, duct tape a plastic water bottle to the muzzle. LOL.

Hi Everyone,

With all the issues about silencers in the USA, how did Crosman get around the issue with its "Whisper" range of rifles ?

Clearly the Whisper based rifles have a permanent silencer arrangement as part of their barrel set up ?

Cheers,

Matt W

The spelling is Brake unless you ..

July 9 2009, 12:50 PM

prefer a broken muzzle. And TKO's Muzzle Brakes have the added benefit of being a shhhhhhroud.
Jees. No wonder no one posts here, it's TROLL CITY without the ability to sPeL kOreKtlee. Goe too skool mutch, or are you Dan Quayle er Quail er Qwail. Maybe you should type your posts in Word, and use the spell check feature. Then copy and paste it in here without the air ors. That way we don't have to be annoyed by yore ignore-rants...

Origninal poster, the TKO product is what you need if you want a sighted silencer. Don't listen to the sissies and the BATF nonsense. If they have you worried, get a slip fit. Not that anyone will ever know you are airgunning after you get the product, but should the MAN show up, slip it off and shove it somewhere out of sight. No DA has time for such nonsense on a low velocity cheapo airgun.

As for the box of hammers, I have an extra dickshinehairy I can send you free, try using it sometime before you make an aspertame out of yourself before the world again.

AFAIK, Gamo got around the Whisper's silencer issue with BATF because the "silencer" on the Whisper can't be removed with destroying it, and even if it were, it's design is such that it isn't sufficient to silence a firearm.

This is as I understand it in Tom Gaylord's review, in the PyramydAir web site.

But then again, I could be wrong.....been known to happen... happy.gif

You might be wrong!

August 30 2009, 2:41 PM

BATF considers anything that reduces report by any amount to be a moderater/silencer.  The Whisper has been banned in one state as a result, for it really is a silencer.  It doesn't even matter if you can remove it damaged or undamaged, it's a silencer.  But having a quiet airgun will keep the neighbors from calling the law, so it's all kinda moot anyway, unless you are taking your Whisper with you in public, or have nosy neighbors that can see you and your Whisper.  If you are in CA and go waving it about, you could be in for a real expensive weapons charge, although I doubt you would get jailtime if you have no priors.  Airguns are now considered firearms, dismissing the former notion that only powder contained cartridge propelled projectile weapons were "firearms".

Nevertheless, your interpretation of someone else's inaccurate interpretation of the fed code is dead wrong where silencers are concerned.  I suggest going to the DOJ BATF site and reading their actual code.  You will see what I am referring to there.  I have researched the issue myself, because I was thinking of getting a Whisper myself, as well as an "LDC" for my Sam Yang 909s.  You may have read about the case involving the postal inspector finding a silencer in a pocket of a Yang that was being shipped to a used buyer?  That guy got 15 years, and appealled it...and could now get more time as a result.  This issueshould not be taken lightly.  If your state allows silencers, I would pony up the charge (~$200) to get a license allowing you to legally use a silencer or silenced gun if you want to be absolutely safe. But if you are in CA, you can forget it.  Don't even bring it to any law enforcement agency or even gunsmith's attention (as I believe that gunsmiths have to report such encounters). You will be in deep yogurt.

Just a friendly helpful post.  Others may vary.

I would kindly suggest/ask the MODERATOR of this site to post as other boards do a request to minimize/ban the use of these terms (i.e. SILENCER, MODERATOR) to protect airgunners just trying to do what they like to do in the sanctity of their own space.  These boards are reviewed regularly by authorities, and this site makes it easy on them by providing the IP of the poster.  (also suggest users employ an IP disguiser application if you are going to discuss this topic)

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

What's in a name? That which we call a

July 11 2009, 10:55 PM

LEAD DUST COLLECTOR (aka "LDC") By any other name would sound as quiet as a silencer...or supressor or whatever, it is just semantics.
TKO products and services SMOKE anything "your daddy Joe" makes - homey dom't make his muzzle brakes with any sound dampening whatsoever, as he clearly indicates.

Mike T makes zactly what the original poster wants, and he makes them better than anyone else. Not to mention he is very fair in his pricing. Buy a TKO LDC and no one will ever know what you are doing. Go TKO and you won't regret it.

Romeo1 over, under and out.

I am just endorsing a product that I know works. Do you know of a better product for a better price? If so, post it for the benefit of the original poster. I am only trying to help. Altruism is in my blood.
