Is Anyone NOT Experiencing Inconsistent Shots?

Ok, so I thought I'd ask this question from the other perspective. Shot to shot inconsistencies seem to plague a number of 1077 owners.

Is there anyone here that DOES NOT experience inconsistent shots from their 1077?

If you feel your 1077 shoots consistently, shot per shot, please post a response.

Take into account that as the number of shots increase, the power of the shots decrease. I want to hear from owners who get shot to shot velocity/power consistency, say within any 10 shot group.

Thanks.

Hi Pops,

It seemed to me that there's a few posts from different 1077 owners of inconsistency in power/velocity on a shot per shot basis.

I get inconsistent power every few shots within the first 4 cylinders. Seems to go away after I fire about 2 quick shots (either blank or with pellets).

I've trying to figure out the cause. I'm also not discounting that my 1077 is still relatively new (only a couple of thousand shots thru it) and that it may still wear in.

Thanks.

This gun is driving me crazy!

I'm getting 625 - 650 fps with the first few shots then dropping to 450 fps by the 10th shot. It maintains 400 - 450 for about 20 shots before fading away. Why does this gun work differently to others? The gas in a CO2 capsule should maintain a constant pressure until it is virtually empty as far as I am aware, and I allow 10 seconds between shots to minimise CO2 cooling.

Well, I took it apart following the instructions kindly posted elsewhere on this site and tweaked it. First I snipped about 5-6 mm off the hammer spring and then I ever so slightly widened the valve outlet to 4mm from around 3.5mm. Before putting everything back together I wrapped some closed cell foam around the barrel around the area of the barrel band to stabilise it. The barrel still slides OK.

First capsule went fine. 550 fps declining to 450 fps after about 30 shots. I can live with that as I don't need too much power for close range (10 - 15 yds) rat shooting in a barn and that sort of varying energy in .177 will not cause too much POI variation at 10 - 15 yds. I'll change capsules after the second clip to maintain the peak power band. Over here in the UK I can't locate a Crosman Airsource adapter at a fair price. I think that this would solve the drop off problems, but £55 ($80) is too high a price for a bit of vermin shooting.

One tip I discovered is that as the power drops off to around 400 fps by the 40th shot you can reinvigerate the capsule by shaking the gun or tipping it quickly down and then back up again a few times. This will give a 40 - 50 fps boost for the next few shots.

I'll strip it down again this weekend and do a few more tweaks. I have a SMK moderator that will fit after I take the front sight off and I'll stabilise the barrel at the muzzel end. I'm also going to round off the inside edge of the barrel using a Dremil grinder to take any sharp edges off. I'm thinking of taking another 2-3mm off the hammer spring and packing insulation around the magazine area to minimise blow back.

I've already fitted a red dot laster and a set of high scope mounts should allow a 4 x 32 to be mounted above it. This will give good low-light targeting.
