Notice to NOT use pointed pellets with the 1077

Just read a warning on a retailers website that the Crosman 1077 and AS1077T are not to be used with pointed pellets. Of the 25-30 rifles shown, the 1077 is the only rifle that has this warning. Why shouldn't pointed pellets be used? I just looked at my just-purchased Crosman pellets that read "Pointed Premium Grade Lead Airgun...". Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks.

write that. I have noticed if you shoot too fast, it will index right past a pointed pellet, but I've had that happen with wads, too. This gun is just a plinker, so I use the CP Hollow Pts., and they fit perfect, don't fall out if you tap them into the mag lightly from the back before loading. I use a match stick to do this, but anything, e.g. a pen, will work. The pointed ones you have to load with the cartridge flat, face down, to ensure they don't fall out, but they work. The only ones I cannot get to work in a 1077 is the predators, unless you remove the silly plastic tips with pliers or tweezers. They are a bit narrow skirted, which won't work with an old, used, widened clip. But they do OK in a fresh clip. From Daisy to RWS hobbies, any narrow skirt pellet won't do well in the clip unless you tap them into the clip, face down on a flat surface. Even then they may slip through once in a while. The CP HP's are the best for this gun, as far as I have discovered. They're graat, except for that nasty coating on them that tastes so bad when you lick it wink.gif j/k. But anyway, the pointed pellets are fine, especially the Crosmans.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.
