New owner - observations

I have tried various pellets to see which is most accurate - using scope at roughly 45 feet.

I don't notice a huge difference among various types, except that when the gun is dialed in on one pellet, others will hit differently. Have tried RWS hobby's, RWS superdomes, Crosman match wadcutters, Daisy precision max, and crosman pointed. Notable differences are that the RWS superdomes are probably the most consistent, followed by the Hobby's. The worst are the daisy's but they are really not that bad a lot of the time - they are the ones that will have one go way off. They make for cheap plinking!

Overall accuracy - 3 shots quickly fired will usually be nicely grouped, esp. with RWS pellets. What I notice, though is that accuracy (dialed into a dime sized bullsye) will go away after the first magazine. Groups of 3 will still be close, but not on the bull. This is especially true with ambient temps below 70 deg F. I know this is typical of CO2. I almost wish I could REDUCE the power. For example, I have a CO2 pistol that has 450 FPS, and I get 80-100 shots and more consistent power/ accuracy over the whole shot count. The 1077 is much much worse in this area. Would airsource provide more consistency over several magazines? I have determined that airsource does not provide savings. Shot for shot, 12g carts are cheaper. I'd consider bulk if that was not too expensive.

Question - is there an adapter that would fit to the airsource kit, so I could use a bulk fill bottle instead? I searched and it seems like bulk kits are custom made - the links I found are dead - new ones? I'd like to know if anyone has modified the Airsource kit to take a hose to bulk fill -- anyone know about this?

Thanks ---Mike

Forgot to mention -I have ordered some Beeman laser pellets - we'll see how they compare since I've read they are recommended for this gun.

Bulk Fill Advice

September 11 2009, 9:34 AM

Hi There,

If you see my recent thread - Skeleton Stocked 1077, with Bulk Fill, Silencer etc, there is a photobucket link to a picture of how I bulkfilled my 1077.

Dummy powerlet, remote hose & belt mounted paintball tank + drilling of the powerlet chamber.

I hope this helps,

Cheers,

Matt W

Thanks! Looks like you removed the stock - I haven't done that yet, but with the dummy powerlet, there is obviously a need to cut away the bottom of the stock - is it just cutting the plastic, or is there a metal housing around where the powerlet goes in that needs to be cut as well?

Did you make your own drilled dummy powerlet? If so, did it just thread onto the fitting with teflon tape? What size hole did you drill / fitting used?

Coincidentally, today I found an airsource upgrade kit on sale so I bought it. Have not yet checked it out, but I know the 88 g carts are supposed to be one use. Anyone know -- do they pierce like a powerlet, or do they have a valve? If a valve, has anyone safely and effectively re-filled these?

I'd like to get more consistent grouping over more than 2 mags, but not at the prices of 88g carts.

Bulk Fill

September 11 2009, 1:19 PM

Hi There,

To answer, I drilled the stock to clear the quick release connector (I think it was a 20mm hole). I also drilled the powerlet tube (again only thinking it was approx 10mm.

Dummy cartridge was machined & tapped to an NPT thread (1/4" I think) to take a quick release connector (this came with the paintball remote hose). The NPT thread is a standard used in the Paintball industry. Then I used a standard paintball remote coiled hose & CO2 bottle.

I get mine refilled at the local paintball shop for 2 pounds sterling.

I also fit my own designed power adjuster (patent pending) which inreases power without the need of more C02 per shot.

I made the skeleton stock to fit my 6' 2" frame, as I found a standard gun on the small size.

This should give between 200-300 shots depending on temperature, etc.

I hope this helps,

Cheers,

Matt W
