I pre-ordered your book from amazon.com and just received it yesterday. I've purchased five or six picture books that aim to introduce the concept of egg donation to young children, and quite honestly, yours is the only book that I truly like. Somehow your book strikes just the right balance: it doesn't dumb down the process of DE (some of the other books do this to the point of giving inaccurate information), and it doesn't get too technical, either (other books introduce such complicated medical terms that I imagine they'd be off-putting and confusing for young children). The illustrations are friendly and colorful without being cutesy. The voices of the child elephant and the mother elephant are realistic, not stilted. What I really appreciate is the fact that the conversation between mother and child is simple and general enough to give parent readers a chance, in conversation with their DE children, to branch out into their own specific journeys and conception stories -- other books close off this opportunity. And, by the way, I like the fact that you actually show the mother elephant getting a shot.
My own DE son isn't quite born yet, but I can't wait to read this book to him in a few years. THANK YOU for writing it -- I was beginning to wonder if a truly "good" DE picture book was even possible!
