Jonathan loves his sacred blanky dearly - when I bought him the most similar one I could find he rejected it and labeled it his "broken blanky." He doesn't have to have it near ALL the time but if he wants it and can't find it, the panic in his voice is clear. Sometimes though, I do something that really upsets him (saying "no" to something he wants or whatever) and he will hand blankie to me, sobbing "Take it away!! I don't want blankyyyyyyy!!" Then of course he regrets it and begs to have it back within seconds. My mother suggested that he was trying to separate from Blanky but I am sure that is not the case. I think he is "punishing" me by rejecting it instead of rejecting me.
Is this normal two year old behavior?
