Thanks to all of your wonderful support through my very emotional and trying times these last nine months baby boy arrived last night and he is just perfect! He is a beautiful little baby with a little light brown hair and blue eyes and very healthy. He is just adorable and as far as I can tell will be an easy baby with very little crying and is a good little self soother. So far his personality is very different from DD's as she cried so much and didn't know how to calm down at all.
I really hope everyone had as easy of a birth as I did. We arrived at the hospital in the morning to be induced with cytotec. I had a different doctor from usual one and she wanted to start me off with a higher does of cytotec. Well this really cranked up me anxiety for a few hours as I mentioned in a post a few days ago I was afraid of this drug anyways. But I finally decided we would try the smaller dose and then do the second dose in an hour. Well all that worry for nothing, contracting for four hours without any real pain, no dilation happening and no effacement, no side effects. Stubborn cervix. Dh and I were talking about how we wouldn't get a baby afterall and would probably be back in a few days or further induction. And then my water broke!! DH and my nurse looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language when I said my water had broke. I was now dilated to three cm and I knew we would be having a baby one way or another in the next 18 hours as they hooked up my antibiotics for strep-b.
Oh gosh then I was worried about the impending pitocin and possible c-section. Then I started having some painful contractions and one hour later got a dose of Fentanyl narcotic. It makes you dizzy and slightly nauseated at first but takes the edge off. My contractions really started kicking up and I was starting to feel a lot of pain with contractions every 2.5 minutes so I had another dose of Fentanyl and we put in an order for my epidural. So only another 30 minutes of more pain and the epidural was fully kicked in and I was very calm, relaxed and napping. DH drove home to eat dinner as we thought it would be at least 3 or 4 hours until he was born. My were we all shocked when my nurse checked me and I was dilated to 9, 100% effaced. So I quickly called DH and told him to hurry back to the hospital right now. The staff got ready for the delivery waiting for DH, he arrived I pushed seven times and he was born!! So my active labor only lasted four hours four hours from when my water broke. You really can't ask for an easier delivery.
Baby boy is beautiful. I just adore him. He is sleeping in my arm right now and this is my first chance to write his announcement. I will write more when I get a chance.
