went out and left something going on the stovetop yesterday

Hi,
I took R to the doctor yesterday to get the second part of a flu injection. We had waited around 3/4 of an hour already when I thought of dinner. OM OMG then realised I'd left a pot of soup on very low on the stove. I didn't know what to do as the doctor appeared suddenly and it was our turn.
So I rang my DH, he had to come home early and turn it off. Heck, it was his first day at a new job. I am usually so careful not to do this.
He arrived back here around five mins before me to a pot that had only just boiled dry. Five minutes later and the house would have been filled with that stench of burning vegs that takes days to get rid of.
Phew that was a close call. best, THK
