It does not kill viruses either. The difference is the active ingriedient stays on your hands and provides protection after it dries against bacteria. It is the same ingriendent found in Dial Soap and Safe Guard Soap as well as most antibacteria "soaps". the best protection from all is going to be good handwashing with soap and water. We wash our hands as soon as we get inside and often through out the day. I am just not comfortable with anything being left on my babies hands, that could permeate their thin developing skin, and thus enter their bodies. Its a decision that each parent has to decide for themselves, but my research says its not a good idea to leave these products on the babies skin for too long. Most kill upon contact, so I wipe it off after it has made contact for a few seconds. Like I said its something each parent has to decide for themselves.
