Responses to Matting and Tangles: i just wanted 2 post even if only briefly. thx 2 all 4 thnking of me and 4 your encouraging words. I have a road ahead. my hair is very very very dry and somewhat matted and I can't imagine how 2 even begin a good comb out even w/my fingers. the tangles are impossible. I've lost my edges and have only fine fuzz at ths point. not sure if I've truly lost length or if its just the matted tangles. any sugg would b most welcome. thank u all again very very much. a sweet sunday 2 u all!

Thanks chamogirl:
I don't have any suggestions but glad to have ya back

Thanks Flaxen:
How Nice to See You. I do have one suggestion. A while ago there was a product discussed that helped several people with matting problems. Check out this website, click on products and then detangler. http://www.cowboymagic.com/ Yes, it is a product that can be used on horses or humans, LOL! Then, here's a website that sells it, and one of the sizes is even on sale.shop.store.yahoo.com/animalworldnetwork/cowmagdetand.html

Thanks Martine:
I think it's likely there's a connection between your hair's dryness and the matting/tangling you're having. If there's a way you can cleanse your hair more often, every day or every second day for example, you might find that's one thing that helps with dryness and makes hair stronger because of the moisture it's retaining from having been soaked & conditioned. As for removing tangles, I find the best tool for me is a soft bbb. Oil or silicone serums/sprays can also be helpful applied directly on the problem area (or bbb).

Thanks Eliza Jane:
Take one hair strand at a time when you encounter a tangle mass. Gently work each strand loose from the mass with your fingers. This will take an enormous amount of patience and time. My hair gets matted if I don't finger comb it in a few days' time. I sit down somewhere comfortable, and start finger combing it and when I hit a snag, tangle or whatever, I take one hair out of the mass at a time, but do it v ery gently or you will snap your hair.If you loose patience with the mess, just leave it, walk away from it and come back to it later. Whatever you do, don't yank your comb through the mass. Glad you are back with us!

Thanks Lucy:
What EJ said is so true.. it will take a LOT of patience and time to untangle, but it WILL be worth it. I remember my parents having to do this many a time when I was younger and my hair would regularly tangle. Once you have untangled a section (divide it into sections, it is easier to tackle smaller parts than your whole head, and you will get a bigger sense of achievement this way) make sure you rehydrate it, to prevent it tangling again. You could apply some oil and smooth it through. It sounds like your hair could be quite porous at the moment, so it will hopefully drink up all the oil and become smoother.
As for your ends.. a small dusting may be all you need to sharpen them up. But tackle one goal at a time. We are here for you!

Thanks Alya:
Oh yes, be patient and pick it apart gently.

Thanks Fox:
You might want to try detangling with conditioner on. You could do this in the bath and using a wide tooth comb, gently begin to comb out with your freshly conditioned hair. I suggest washing, conditioning, then conditioning again, leaving the conditioner on, then gently combing. You can also rinse under the shower spary and use the shower water as a helper.. to help detangle while you gently comb. As Martine said, more frequent washes or even rinses with conditioner, should help. If you don't feel up to this, perhaps someone can help you do this regularly. So glad to see you back!

Thanks Roni:
You've been given great advice.I don't know if you're familiar with the Harriet Carter company, but they sell a type of hairnet that helps a loved one to wash your hair when you cannot, and it can be done in the sink,it's not that expensive, either.Maybe,Sally's or another store may carry this sort of thing, too, but it looks like a God-send!!

Thanks Betty:
Have I got the products for you! Ion brand from Sally's It is a no cone product, yep I have been thinking it was for way over a year Well, it worked so well I thought it had to have cones LOLOLOL The Reconstruction Treatment really gets the tangles out http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/product.asp?pf%5Fid=302217&dept%5Fid=1215 A little goes a long way too. You can purchase a sample pack for about a $1. I have color treated hair and it's prone to tangel anyway. This stuff is awesome!! BTW, it's so nice to see you. I hope you are doing well. I will be keeping you in my thoughts. Angel Hugs and Love
