"So the plans of an Aegis system are abandoned? No Spy-1 radar? "
If Atom team is able to develop it in time, Most probably yes !!! Bro, We do not know the ability level of those team now a days... Who know ? Maybe, They will develop a Phased Array radar which has equal (or more) quality standarts with Aegis systems... I support to develop those radar with national capabilities...

Well the 2016 project is an APAR radar like:
which is still less capable than the Aegis system. But heck on the other hand it is also illogic to expect a delivery of full functionality Aegis from the US, most likely a downgraded one.
So yes I guess to build our own APAR is the right way to go

It´s the right way to go for our own radar systems because the more knowledge and know how we gain from our R&Ds the more US will leave it´s restrictions aginst us in this issiue.. We´we seen this before in other defence areas!

----------------------------
the only reason why even those are developed is because the ssm run its self as government organization with its own taxes and special privileges..
in reality little of the "projects" enter production face and those that do with a technological time gap of 3 decades..
spreading these "r and D" projects is excellent news for Greece...
take for instance t-129 .it will eat up 5% of the Turkish defence budget for the next years only for maintenance (since turgay needs to set up a native spare parts industry to accommodate the projects) and further development , just to keep it in line with modern helicopters capabilities..
few projects like those and turgay military budget goes up in smokes..

I remember the very old days of S&H which i was able to buy with hope, disapointed reading direct purhase programs, being angry to read the editor's (what was his name? the guy with full of beard with an angry looking face if im not mistaken) critisizes among Turkish Defence Strategy. That was about 10-12 years ago i was just a kid.
There was a Turkish defence forum i totally forgot the name whose some of posters were professionals, i dunno what they are doing now, i found the site closed when i had turned back from my training at sea. But they were the tough guys exactly i missed to read.. Maybe some of them still writing on that new "restricted" forum which i ve never learned the reason why but im sure they have the reasonable reasons. Anyway.
Many times passed, many things changed in that time, now im not be able to follow the magazine & the sector due to my job but as everything changed, our defence sector also changed. We have the capability to provide at least %50 of our needs and by the projects that Cabatli bro posted in the future that will be much more. But the best part is, all projects are the qualified indigenous ones which will be able to compete with the most advanced opponents.
I wonder if that good old magazine's editor is still the same guy, if he is, i hope this time he has a happy looking picture of him on the 3rd page of the magazine today.
Cabatli;
That was one of the best thread we saw lately thanks bro and keep up the good work especially the ones coming from "my" magazine.

You mean dear Hakki Aris?
Well he had a point to critisize since then the Turkish defence projects where handled as backward as the Greek ones, a lot has changed indeed.

indeed it has;Greek are dropping the co production blunder for direct purchases for advance systems(cost half) and turgays are not only going full scale co-production but they also entering into development procedures..(which is always good news for the Greeks)
by 2030 turgay needs to structural support 500-600 different production and further development lines ....(running on 15 billion budget that would come handy)
hell you should go indigenous also in the car industry...
Greeks should thank ssm for making Greece safe for the next 50 years.silly Greeks they could developed a new frigate program for 20 billions but no they insist on buying them for a quarter of the price..
