Turkey to spend 450 million USD on oil exploration in Black Sea

The FINANCIAL -- Turkey's energy minister said on October 5 that Turkey would make an investment around 450 million USD for oil exploration works in Black Sea.

"Taner Yldz said that a giant offshore oil platform would set off from Norway this month and it was expected to arrive in Turkey's north coast in mid-December," Today's Zaman reports.

Yldz said oil exploration works would be launched in Black Sea as part of cooperation with Brazil's Petrobras.

In April 2009, state-owned petroleum companies, Turkey's TPAO and Brazil's Petrobras, signed an agreement for the exploration of oil in the Black Sea.

Yldz said oil drilling works with Petrobras could last about two or three years and end up with serious amounts of oil reserves.

An impossible dream to spend so much money on oil exploration under previous banana athiest governments and impossible to achieve under any current alternative to the AKP.
