Thanks Cabatli, ignore the Constantanus spawn.
On 12 June 1992, a Greek Mirage F-1C crashed during a dogfight with a Turkish F-16 piloted by Capt. Ilhan Filiz.
On 8 October 1996, a Greek Mirage-2000 piloted by Thanos Grivas shot down a Turkish F-16D with a Magic IR missile.
Just two days after that murder, on 10 October 1996 a Greek Mirage-2000 crashed close to Semadirek island after a dogfight with two Turkish F-16s.
Point of the story is: TUAF saved itself two missiles.

Bro, Gunner pilots can see everything they need thanks to bow Flir's... AselFlir-300T is also going to show everything pilots need without looking outside...so Aselsan has been developing Avci Helmet mounted display unit to reflect outter threats in front of the eyes of pilots and check all environments with clicking one button of T-129 MFD's to solve this easy sight problem....

Let's cut the hysterical crap about the position of the FLIR, as I'm sure the thousands of engineers and designers probably know something that you bunch of clueless daydreaming fvcktards don't. FLIR pod doesn't keep the pilot/gunner from seeing things, far from it, it HELPS them see better, and see things they normally couldn't with their naked eye. Not only in the visual range, but also at night, in IR band (the ability to see heat-emitting objects), and all that under adverse and bad weather conditions too.

In most cases, helicopters don't shoot at things that are directly underneath them or too damn close to it anyway. Most pilots will want to fire at their targets from at least some minimal safe distance as to minimize the risk of damaging sensors from small arms fire. So, the pilot's ability to see directly under the nose of the helicopter when he looks out the cockpit windshield is fairly irrelevant.
