Shortly after the 1996 crisis, the US National Imaging and Mapping Agency (NIMA) removed the Greek name Vrakhoi Imia from its maps, adding instead a note saying "Sovereignty undetermined",[1] but in a new edition a few months later, in October 1996, it again reverted that move and returned to the Greek name.[15]

Kamikaze saw the moronic responses coming...Is he a psychic or Turks are so predictable?

Funny that Turks own Konstantinoupolis for 500+ years yet they fell obligated ti point out it used to
be Greek. They have issues, they are afraid that Greeks will come back to take it,insecure superpower...

Of course. Look at the picture Corpusvile posted. They captured Constantinople, and what did they do? They saw Agia Sophia and thought "this is better than anything we can come up with on our own. Let's copy it"
They apply the same principle to tanks and helicopters now. "We can't really design our own, so we'll buy someone else's design, slap "Made in Turkey" on it, and declare it ours." lol

Well, yeah, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Why build cities when you can just take away readily built ones from their weak owners? LOL. Similarly, why spends billions of dollars more on tank R&D and design from scratch when there's a willing supplier of the tech and know-how at a fraction of the cost?

You may think that's not very honorable. That's too bad. LOL. We call it good business. wink.gif

When mr. Vezyropoulos with his flock is reinstituted back to Imia then yes Imia is Greek sovereign territory again. FYI, the Greek shepherd was forced to leave the islands by Greek authorities in 2004 despite agreements allowing him to stay. Even without GR military guarison, it is imperative to have some economic (even primitive) activity on Imia. All these steps require strong and determined leaderhip.

""Maniots, known for their martial qualities, were the first to join the Greek liberation movement. The society called the Filiki Eteria ("Company of Friends") sent their representatives Perrevos and Chrisospathis to organize the Maniots. On March 17, 1821, 12,000 Maniots gathered in the church of Taxiarchs (Archangels) of Areopoli and declared war against the Ottoman Empire. The flag of the revolution was white with a blue cross in the center. On top of the flag there was a sign, "Victory or death". The Maniots were responsible for writing "Victory" and not "Freedom" on their banner since Mani was always free. On the bottom of the flag lied an ancient inscription, "With the shield or on the shield."

yes the human spirit is a great thing made even greater when fighting for what it believes in. the point was don't count on things going the way the great powers plan everytime.

EDIT: of course things usually do go the great powers way ie. your freedom. not to take anyhing away from the brave Greeks who died for your freedom but even at our weakest, without Russia Brittain and France stepping in you guys had no chance.

"greece pass the test for more than 400 years
is turkish turn now"

It's strange how greeks believe our history begins and ends with them most of my mates here don't know anything about Turks before the ottoman empire not even the seljcuks, hate to break it to ya mate but all the "tests" you went through so did we (and many other races), even the janissaries, read about mamluks you'll see that we did a better job of it too. we turned our enslavement into mighty empires... you guys got whooped by sipahis (Turks), converted, and assimilated. of course by then the janissaries were mixed with albanians and other christians too so who knows.
