Sahin says Turkey wants better ties with Turkic Republics

Ambassadors of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan attended the luncheon.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin hosted Wednesday a luncheon in honor of ambassadors of Central Asian Turkic Republics and chairmen of parliamentary friendship groups with those countries at parliament in Ankara.

Speaking at the meeting, Sahin said Turkey had fraternal ties with Central Asian Turkic states since they declared their independence.

"The level we reached in relations is not enough. We have to improve ties," Sahin said.

"Better relations among these countries would also contribute to global peace as our countries are located in an important geography," he said.

Sahin said Turkey's trade volume with Central Asian countries reached 8 billion in total in 2008, adding that better relations between the parliaments would help grow commercial relations.

Ambassadors of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan attended the luncheon.

^^^^ Tezel, If you're gonna bring race into ethnicity then less than 10% of turkey's Turks are Turkic/Turkish... And that goes for most turkic countries which are heavily mixed.

Further more, the Persian ethnicity doesn't have much to do with race but whether you speak one of the Persian languages or a dialect of Persian, consider yourself Persian etc... then you're a Persian, simple as that... same goes for Turks and arabs.
