A look back on the Turkish purchase of 15 MLRS (12 still in use) back in 1998 with about 2000 M26 missiles, a later friction with the US led to complete stop of missile deliveries where upon Turkey developed her own Toros missile.

The Toros missile is still used with the Turkish M-270 launchers, a big advantage of the Toros missile vs the M26 missile is her range of 70km vs the 35km of the M26 (Note that the TR-122 missiles have 46km range)

Somehow Turkey abandoned the continuation of developping furter on the M-270. Turkey can easily reproduce M-270 launchers which are based on the bradley tracked vehicle that has the same base as the ACV-S vehicle.

Apparantly Turkey no longer saw the M-270 worth for continuation and continued instead on a copy of the Chinese missile named Kasirga with a range of 100 - 120km and the Yildirim missile with a range of 150-180km.

It is believed that Turkey also produces the GPS-INS guided Yildirim missile with a range of 250 - 280km

Roketsan is further involved in missile tests in Pakistan and confident that she can ready a satellite launcher rocket by 2014.

TOROS was research and demonstration project, and it was succesful. It didn't enter serial production.

It is still produced under the name sage-227

Fabrikasında, Dipten Yanma Ünitesi ROKETSAN A.Ş.de üretilecek, TÜBİTAK-SAGE ise atış
cetvellerinin oluşturulmasında hizmet verecektir.

TOROS, despite promises and usual barking (you will see in 2020 blah blah) never made it to production.

By the time TOROS project finished ROKETSAN had already started to produce T-300 KASIRGA system. So I belive TOROS is much more advanced than T-300 but it hadn't supported, beacuse of the media there are lots of misunderstanding with TOROS. But if somebady wants Turkey can produce guided-TOROS in very few time.

TOROS is produced in a limited batch because they are only needed for the 12 launchers we have, there have been no plans to continue because the 70km range is covered already by the Kasirga missile that made the toros superfluous.

Unlike TOROS, Kasigra is not indigenous, it is a locally manufactured Chinese WS-1 mounted on MAN vehicles. In other words, you guys dumped the indigenous rocket and went for the more technologically safe Chinese variant.

Actually T-300 is quite different than WS-1. Although designs are identical, T-300 has more advanced composite in structue,and engine parts. There are more differnces probably in warhead also. And dont forget Turkey has also Intellectual property rights of T-300, so it's not lisenced production.

T-300 is way ahead of Chinese missile WS-1 and designed-developed by Roketsan with technological assistance of Chine in 1997... All intellectual and property rights of T-300's are belong to Roketsan...


No a days, Roketsan is busy to give some technology of T-300 for UAE to develop their missile arsenal in their country...

In other words, Turkey has more than enough firepower to completely sanitize all of its former Ottoman-era islands in the Aegean using nothing but rockets and SRBMs.

So is it definite that produced batch of TOROS used in MLRS system? I thought that MLRS are only delivering ATACMS?

theirs 2 kinds one with classic rocket 12 payloads and one with atacams 2 payloads

Also the Toros is a reverse engineered M26, with a different feul mix that gives her a much better range.

A missile is a missile and it doesn't matter if it is a reverse engineered missile of US or Chinese origin, it kills Greek cockroached evenly well.
