If a war was to ever happen between Turkey and Greece, the approx 200,000 or so Greek Turks living in Greece would they fight for Greece, or would they be monitored by the army, or rounded up in camps.

I new of a couple of Turks born in Greece who have served for the Greek army, but It would be tough to answer !!!!

They now live in Toronto, I speek to them regularly, and they tell me they would plege to fight for Turkey, even thought they are born in Greece and have Greek pasports !!

These guys are all mouth. They profess love for Turkey, but still live in Greece with it's much higher standard of living. They could move to Turkey anytime they want to, but instead their loyalty to that nation is merely shooting their mouths off. Typical Moslem Greeks in that regard.

I live in Toronto and never met any "Greek Turks" here. Ever. Nice story though.

Barba Mitso, youd be surprised, There a quit a few families a couple who own sum really big bars downtown in the club district, and sum succesfull construction companies !

If you're talking about someone who has a carpet business (and also involved in clubs/restaurants/nightclubs) he's 100% Greek (I'm not going to get into names and **** in this place). A lot of Greeks were born in Turkey, but Greek 100%.

Well as far as I'm concerned a muslim can't be Greek. For political purposes we can say the ones in Thraki are "Greek muslims", but they're not our people. We can NEVER trust them.

Many Greeks had (and still have) Turkish sounding names. All those names you highlighted have Christian first names. I highly doubt they were "Greek muslims", but rather Greek Orthodox men with Turkish last names.

I don't know any Greek called Jelal Kadir Ahmet or Deli Latif Hasan. I know some called Panteloglou or Vogiatzoglou but first name is Greek Christian.

State security and Army Intel know exactly who is who among the Moslem community, rest assured. As for taking up weapons, this is impossible. They do not even have hunting rifle permits nor access to weapon stocks. This is not the Turkish-Cypriot population of the 1960's we are talking about, this is a well-policed minority.

They will most probably fight on our side. To me there is a difference between people you meet in Toronto and the 200,000 Muslims in Greece. Out of the 200,000 only few are enlisted in the army at any time just like not all 10,000,000 Greeks/Christians are under arms at any given time.

So out of 200,000 I suppose only 2,000-10,000 will be called under arms in case of a war. even if 10,000 show up they will be assigned to minor duties just like any low trained conscript in the Greek Professional Army. They will be serving among Christian Greeks so even if they want to desert or turn against their fellow soldiers they will fail.

But the fact is the Muslims in Thrace, the ones I know and have befriended(my KickBoxing instructor, fellow students in Xanthi Engineering University, and local shop and restaurant owners I hung out) are expressing openly their Greek descent or upbringing stating their religion as the only true difference between me and them.
