July 1/08: An $87.6 million contract modification will provide 130 AIM-120C7s to Greece, and 6 Non-Developmental Item Airborne Instrumentation Units (NDI-AIUs) to Germany, as a modification to the AMRAAM Production Lot 21 contract. At this time all funds have been committed (FA8675-07-C-0055, P00011).
Yanni, very good post. Although IN PAPER both Airforce's have equal number of modern fighters (Greece 204-Turkey 209) in reality the Greek side enjoys the strategic advantage.
*JHMCS for latest F-16's
*AWACS capabilities with 4 ERIYE
*Superior Air-Defence
*Numerical and qualitave advantage in air to air missiles both BVR and WVR
*Excellent forward airfields notably in Kasteli, Lemnos and Skyros
*The best pilots
Turkey only enjoys an advantage in air-refuelling with her 7 aging KC-135R's.

Combat, the only reason why I bother with you is this competitive spirit of yours, maybe you are not the smartest person in the world but you sure as hell know how to flame. However, airforce threads are not competitive grounds, here lays our strength.
I would take the numbers of missile purchases or stocks with a grain of salt. This is a very important number which IMO nations would not want to make public, regardless if they enjoy a superiority or not. The deception is for public consumption, not the actual numbers. If a nation does have superiority or inferiority in missiles such as the ones mentioned, it does not have anything to gain by stating the numbers except to show it's hand........which isn't smart. Its ok to know how many aircraft exist in the inventory, but without the missiles they use, it means almost nothing. This is why I say that it is just too much of a vital figure to release, unless it is part of a disinformation campaign.
Countries like greece or turkey may do secret deals with russia, france or israel.
But no way with the US of A.
And sure not when it comes to weaponary which need the ok from congress, lol.
It does not matter what one says himself when it comes to his US missile inventory.
Besides the jews nobody gets anything under the table from the USA.
Fantare, you may have your opinion but this does not change a thing.
The US has strict export rules for everyone with only exception maybe the jews.
One more reason HAF wants her french fighters and the "special orders" since many decades.
Ofcourse it is not clever to show your numbers for such crucial systems but if you buy american you donīt have other choice since everything to the last bullet is written in the daily DSCA bulletins.
What is so difficult to understand?
All( 300+) Turkish Aim-120s are B versions. Production of Aim-120As switched to B version after 1994 and none of the As were sold via FMS. It was not cleared for export that time. First Turkish Aim-120Bs were delivered in 1997...There is an order of 107 Aim-1C7 for TuAF also...FMS contrat should be announced very soon...

Like some other NATO partners THK got some dozen AIM120A from USAF stocks cause AIM120B did not reach export before 1997.
HAF recieved her first AIM120B in 1998 allthough the order was made in 1995 and again USAF offered AIM120A from USAF stocks.

There are some wrong information outthere. First all AMRAAMs must be in AIM-120B. But there might be American AIM-120A aids. Also there are lots of AIM-120s avalible in Incirlik base, ready to use for TAF. So there are more then "offical" 300+ AIM-120B missile.
